Starting at Woods Hole, in view 3, with the rear of the train in the ferry, I get a wierd annoying sound, which sounds like it might be a PA announcer, but it sounds like something isn't quie right. I move car by car forward and the sound is still there and finally near the overpass in town, I get a send / don't send.Starting at the same point, but working back into town from the front of the train, I get 2 error messages for missing shapes, one being a Corvette, again, resulting in a send / don't send. The screenshots looked great, as did what very little I was able to see today, but going to hold off on trying to run the route any further till I see what others come up with.Chris Bogley

RE: Cape Cod Error Messages

I had a couple of missing shape file error messages on startup, but I was able to continue through them. Got the route running but I don't have time to explore it until tonight. Looks simply superb!I ran routeriter but with all the non-summer season stuff I just aborted it.

Yep, all 12...actually, 13 downloads. I did not have the sound problem when I started at the front and worked by way to the rear, car by car, but when I got to the Krispy Kreme in Woods Hole, I got the first error, which allowed me to continue, then I got the error for the Corvette which crashed the sim.Chris Bogley

SP Frank:***** Global\Shapes\A1t0_2mStrt.s ErrorIt must be a shape file I installed via one of the many versions of XTracks. I have the file in my global directory, I'm just not sure what version of Xtracks I downloaded it in. It appears the last version I install was 3.9 but I don't see it in that version.SEE MRMike's post above. He's attached the global file. Thanks Mike!John

>John The a1t0_2mStrt.s is not and has never been an XTracks shape.
There is no version of XTracks available where this item is included.
The shape was made and released by Dietmar Julich in some hard to find track package.Reason I do not add it to XTracks the way I have added other commonly requested shapes is that section can cause track database problems because it is too short. The RE will think tracks connected if their ends are within 0.25m which can cause problems when handling a section 0.2m long. I advice using other solutions when you have a small gap like that like changing the neighbouring tracks or use the a1t0_3mStrt.s which is an XTracks shape.

Chris:***** CORVETTE ERROR *****I'm puzzled by the error messages. I ran the reinstall again. I unzipped each of the zips I uploaded, ran the executables and I have not encountered any error messaages. I ran from Woods Hole to Provincetown. As for the Corvette, I'm 99% sure it'll be the corvette by DIDI. I looked and the shape file is in there. It's called DCorvette.s If you have it, perhaps it got corrupted on upload. It can be obtained at:http://www.the-train.de/de/index.php It's a German MSTS site. You need to register.Click on the english version. Go into downloads, objects, cars.here's the direct linked but I don't think you'll get in without first logging in.http://www.the-train.de/en/downloadarea/index.php?action=17&files_id=3720**** SOUND ERRORNo idea what the problem is there. jpmurd:The only file close to "ornsides.ace" in any of the route folders I have is "smm_cornsides.ace". I'm wondering if zipping the executables or uploading in some way played tricks on a few of these files. As for the other seasons, I'd have to create appropriate winter, spring and fall textures for the many unique terrain tiles I created (i.e. the canal, ponds and marshes).I'm also curious if anyone else has experienced the corvette problem or the sound problem (near Woods Hole) as mentioned above? The only problem people have e-mailed me on is the A1t0_2mStrt.s global hape file. MrMike has fixed that though I'm still getting quite a few e-mails about it and I'm sending it out in response.

Hi John!I tried to send an email to you but I get an error message evrytime saying that my server doesn´t approve the recieving address!!!??!Therefore I ask here for those two files ("A1t0_2mStrt.s" and "terrtex\ornsides.ace") to be sent to me!The route is great: long distance, nice and constantly changing scenery (both landscape and all cities!), many yards! All those good things that really makes a route to my opinion!!my email address: h_fg@telia.comGreetings from a sunny Sweden (at least for today!)Haraldh F.

John B, The file you refer to is by Scott Miller & is indeed smm_cornsides.ace. The only thing I can figure out is the file that calls for "ornsides.ace" was misspelled. I simply renamed the file to "ornsides.ace & no more error msgs. My Computer specs are in my profile

I have just run Cape Cod on my older laptop and it runs perfectly: the reason! XTRACKS and TSection build 26. The route has to have XTRACKS! Oh yeah, an yer gotta copy over the smm_cornsides.ace from the textures folder an paste it into the Terrtex folder--ang on, ang on--then ya gotta rename it ornside.aceIt's a very nice route with beautiful coloured sea, and lots of other detail, as for framerates: ouch!I'll put some screenies up in the Screenshot forum after I have been to the bathroom and had some refreshment.Mike

I'm sure we can get them when the author of the route comes back from his 1 week vacation. John

Just to let you folks know MY experience with the route.Tried it 3 times, the sim going a freeze each time, and crashing out. On the fourth try (I was a glutton for punishment, trying different starting locations), my sim lost a few little program items off the options screen. Nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, it won't start. Have to uninstall it, then reinstall it, after I figure out WHAT I need to do to come back to where I am now. Tomorrow's work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ted

RE: Cape Cod Error Messages

LAST EDITED ON Oct-02-04 AT 10:06 AM (EDT)

***** FIX UPLOADED TO FILE LIBRARY *****Ok. I've put together a fix (should appear in the library soon) that addresses problems noted as follows:Two missing global files:
--"A1t0_2mStrt.s"
--"A1t0_2mStrt.sd"
I'll have to consider replacing those sections of track in the future given Okrasa Ghia's comments. With these, it should run fine for now. I'm not sure if these section impact activity building. I hope not.On missing terrtex file:
--"ornsides.ace"
NOTE: I can't understand this one as it is NOT in my terrtex file and the route runs fine. It also seems to be some variant of smm_cornsides which is in the terrain folder. One person appears to have had problems with the Corvette in the carspawner. These files address that:
--"DCorvette.s"
--"DCorvette.sd"
--"DCorvette.ace"One person noted missing waves:
--"7ships2_stereo.wav"
--"7learjet.wav"
--"7psiflyby.wav"
Note: I do not know if the route uses these sounds or if they were installed sounds that I later deleted but that Route Editor someone retained the reference somewhere. Again, these are not in my folder and again mine is running fine.CHRIS B.: - You're probably got multiple error messages any time the corvette showed on the roads. You seem to be the only one experience this.LUNIONPACIFIC / TED B.: - Sorry the route was so frustrating for you two. You appear to have had the most problems.TRACK: As for track laying. If someone has a great interest in rebuilding the track, go for it. Needless to say, my track laying ability is not on par with others. Hope folks don't find it too frustrating. While there are some tight turns and some bumps, if you keep it around 15 on those tight wyes and few sidings, you should be fine. FUTURE: I'd like to see if some activity builders latch on to this or not. If not, I'll like move to activity building next for awhile.
If so, I'm split between working on track issues for those who would like to see bumps ironed out versus extending the line to Middleboro and Boston. Of the fifty or so e-mails, 20% were focused on the global shape file issues and the rest thank yous. Thanks. Glad you guys are enjoying it.

This route is one best freeware or payware routes I have seen scenery-wise, but the route have a lot of problems with the track. It its impressive how interesting the scenery can be, placed in the hands of an expert. Seems that the overhead is a good indicator, if the overhead misses
for a short portion, this is probably the place your train will derail or couplers broken.I get a lot of broken paths in the path-editor. If you only have a loco in explore mode you will probably get over it.There is a lot of places, with "bad tracks".This THE ROUTE is more than well worth repairing, - hopefully we get an update from the author in the near future.

RE: Cape Cod Error Messages

Cape Cod Total MSTS crashAfter a series of ILEGAL OPERATIONS, with xtrack installed, Sniper patch installed,T section installed I am getting Send/dont send at the beggining of the MSTS load procedure.Cape Cod is the last add on I installed.Since then I got in trouble.I took the Route folder to Hard Disk D and problems are still the same.I think my only alternative will be to save my Routes folder, consists folder and Trainset Folder and reinstall MSTS, without Cape Cod.Lucio

RE: Cape Cod Error Messages

I too had the initial problem with a missing track section and a misnamed texture file, both simple fixes with the help of a downlaod and info from this thread. Since then I've had absolutely no problems with this beautifully done route. It's amazing how computer specific some of these problems seem to be - and a little scary, particularly as I've not yet upgraded my XP Pro system to service pack 2. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that "if it works, don't fix it!"Bob Barrows

RE: Cape Cod Error Messages

BobI had it running, in a one into ten start ups.Try again.....
Run scandisk.....then it goes....Yesterday I installed the Sniper patch, checked Xtracks version and
T section wich is 08/15.before the total crash it was loading Cape Cod and freezing, wich woluld allow me to run other Routes. But now, it starts to load and just after 6/7 yellow bars( bottom of screen) it turns into Send /dont sent , for any Route .I spent almost 2 hours trying to run ....At 1 AM I quit went to sleep....will reinstall.

RE: Cape Cod Error Messages

Sounds like something screwed up in your global folder, Lucio. Try reinstalling Xtracks, THEN add the newest global tsection.dat, and run the bat file after that.

RE: Cape Cod Error Messages

hi sniper
You were right.Global was corrupted.I got my MSTS running back from a back up.I added the trains folder and the consists folders( 2 folders for consists).
After that I installed Xtracks.....no problem after that.
Then I installed TSECTION and surprise, I went back to the send dont send messages. As I had a step by step Global Folder back ups I went 1 step back and the MSTS is again running. But, I deleted Cape Cod and will reinstall from the zip files I have.regards

RE: Bay Colony CF-7

LAST EDITED ON Oct-01-04 AT 08:45 PM (EDT)

I'm back guys. I haven't adjusted to EST so I'll keep it short tonight. Sorry about all those freezes and/or send/don't send error messages. I really don't know what to say.I looked at my old downloads. It appears I use version - XTracks 3.9. Okrasa has clarified the A1t0_2mStrt.s is not a XTracks file. Must have picked that up in one of the routes I download. As for TSection file I use the info line reads "Build 00022". Not sure what version that stands for. I essentially install xtracks and the Tsection many moons ago and never upgraded along the way. I'm wondering if some of the problems are associated with the fact I didn't use the latest and greatest Xtracks or Tsections? As for the CF7, it's an unlessed repaint of a Santa Fe model that's out there. Per another thread elsewhere, I wasn't planning on releasing it. My repaints are worse that my track laying I see there's some missing wav files too. I'll try to address that tommorrow.Yes, my track building skills are less than what they could be. Needless to say, my energy was focused on the scenary. I hope most still find this an interesting route and that the technical problems are not too bad.I hope most haven't experienced the many problems some here have.I dare not look at my e-mail until morning.

RE: Bay Colony CF-7

I have run it end to end with no problems. After I got no errors in route riter, of course. Great textures, for sand and bogs, etc.

RE: Bay Colony CF-7

It seems 99.9% of the e-mail messages I'm getting are the two missing .s and .sd files. Glad you haven't had problems. As for the textures, I'd like to have a more consistent water texture for the salt water areas. Some may notice different wave textures. I used two. I wanted a more pronouced wave for far away surf and small pattern for close ocean areas around beaches and wharfs. I think the smaller one may be best throughout.I'm also not sure I'm happy with the fresh water ponds/lakes.I'd also like to add red cranberry bogs at some point.

The other problem.....

I am now getting "ghosting" of trees etc. When I see trees I can see thru them something I encountered on NEC4.0 because the sim was overloaded. The other problem is the SMS files missing. Has anyone else had these issues? Thanks!BobFlorida Railfan Page
