My next set of cars will be a set of Cryo-reefers. A Cryo-Trans and two versions of Lamb-Weston. These cars are very common on the BNSF's Northern Corridor lines, full of fries heading east and mostly empty west. I'm still working on this Cyro-Trans car, but it shouldn't take me long to make the two Lamb Weston cars.Ted Curphey

RE: Cryo-Trans

Actually these cars built in the late 80's/early 90's had a non mechanical carbon dioxide fridge system (think dry ice). They could last for about 14 days on a single charge. But I guess the system is less than desireable, as the cars are now being rebuilt with a Thermo King unit mounted on the end as shown below. I'll probably do a car like the one below before long.Ted Curphey

Thanks for feedback, Thinking surely they would have opted for
external units back in the late 80's & early 90's.I Remember they changed from r12 to r412 refrigerants
or the reverse? cannot remember, CFC's etc? in trucking units.mark

RE: Cryo-Trans

Here are a couple views of one of the Lamb Weston cars. Does someone have good side views of these cars in other paint schemes? I could make more versions.Ted Curphey

RE: Cryo-Trans

I uploaded the Cryo-Reefers set last night, so expect to see them in the File Library sometime soon. I already have my next project in mind, but let's see if anyone can guess what it is. Clues:It's a very common car that non-railfans would have no idea what it's meant to carry when empty, but know exactly what it carries when loaded. It seemingly comes in every color possible, and there are probably train loads of them heading towards the southeast right now.Let's see who is the first to correctly guess the car type.Ted Curphey
