After being all but dormant for most of 2004, Obo's MSTS Locomotive Catalog is once again showing signs of life. We're up to 1700 entries, and gunning for 2000 any year now.The catalog can be found here:http://msts.banal.net/catalog/catalog.htmlPlease drop by and have a look. Now, I long ago gave up any hope of being comprehensive, but given the very few updates that have been made this year I realize I'm missing more great stuff than ever. So, what should I add?All suggestions welcome, but preference will be given to the following.1. Freeware. I have nothing against payware, and you'll find some of it in the catalog already, but I'd rather contribute my limited resources towards those people that work for us all free of charge and do not have advertising budgets.2. Content with activities. More fun for me than putting up a loco, snapping its pic, then putting it away and never seeing it again. To any newbies looking to get deeper into MSTS: please try activity design! We have tons of great content, but many excellent models lack publicly available activities to run them. Thanks, and please excuse the plug.Rob.(Sample picture below)

Hi Rob,For my main interest (UK Steam) - you have 98 listed and there are over 500 steam locos in the UKTrainsim file library, but unless you have UKTS membership they may be difficult to get hold of.Also there is another steam/deisel Australian route with stock (some of which you have already listed) and activities at http://www.railpage.org.au/coalstonewcastle/

Paul:Thanks for your comments. I'll check out Coals To Newcastle. The UK steam section is one of the oldest sections of the web site and was originally one of the largest. One factor in the relative lack of updates is for some reason those pages don't see a lot of traffic - the pages for Spain and France are much busier, for example, which is not at all what I would have predicted when I was setting up the site. I do realize the chicken-and-egg aspect of the visitor-update relationship, of course.Maybe it's time to reactivate my UKTrainsim account. Any recent steam routes you can recommend?Speaking of steam routes: I see there is a new news item at Highworth for the first time in a year. Wow. Very nice to see.Rob.

Jorge:Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you like the site. Regarding trensim.com, I did just add a couple of Josep Armengol's class 340 diesels from there but you're right: there is a ton of good stuff available and I'll be looking to add more of it.I'm also looking for some more Spanish routes. I have La Pobla and Leon-Sahagun already. Anything you'd like to recommend?Rob.

RE: Locomotive Catalog Web Site: Suggestions Wanted

Spanish routes are few and far between. The only other one besides those two that is really pretty good is Valladolid - Aranda. Which, for me, is the best of the three freewares that are available. You can get it in the route section of trensim.com. TrainMagazine also has a payware route which looks nice, from Madrid to Aranjuez. It is a famous short route called the "strawberry train".http://train-magazine.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=37&osCsid=8db9d4d923259f5c9a64d3442bde26ebThey are also working on another payware route, from Madrid to Andalucia which looks fantastic.Believe it or not, my favorite route which reminds me of Spain is actually an Italian fictional route. Val Trenomania. This route captures the "feel" of southern european train rides quite well. So much so, that I have modified it and put in all spanish towns, stations and names from around where I grew up... malaga. I would have to say that Val Trenomania is one of the best freeware/payware routes available for MSTS period... US or European.

Looking forward to trying out Valladolid-Aranda. I took a look through my Italian routes and found to my surprise that I didn't have Val Trenomania, so that one gets added to the download list as well. Some shots of the payware Madrid-Aranjuez were posted to the screenshot forum a couple of weeks ago:http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID15/4066.htmlThanks again, Jorge.Rob.
