A couple of months ago I wrote on here looking for help in renumbering locomotives. Now that I have a chance to get back into what I started, I ran into a problem. I have followed all of the directions that were given to me and I am stuck. In my MSPaint, I can't seem to get the number to change to what I want it too. Can someone help me out with this problem that I am having. Thanx.JAVA
Hallo! I've already done some renumbering using different graphics software (also MSPaint) and the method of copying and pasting figures of the number worked. But with one loco (I don't remember which one) it didn't work. I was able to change the number in the bmp-file produced by TGA-tools, but TGA-tools couldn't export the changes into an ace-file. I tried several times overwriting the ace-file, but the number was still the old one. Maybe this is your problem. I'd suggest you to have a try with the default Dash9. On that engine the renumbering worked even with MSPaint. I remember that, because it was my first try in renumbering. Keep on steamin'! Dietmar
Although limited in some areas, MS Paint works fine. I've renumbered quite a few locomotives so far using it!OK. The procedure I use to renumber locomotives is: 1) Use an existing numbered locomotive as a source. 2) Use TGATool2 to open the locomotive *.ace file. 3) In TGATool, send the image to be edited to the image editor (MS Paint by default). 4) Edit image in MS Paint. Then Save image (do NOT 'Save As'). Exit MS Paint. 5) If edited image does not appear in TGATool (this depends on TGATool option settings), then select Image Reload Data. 6) Then select Export (and appropriate option depending on image and compression used; in my case the options are - Ace (no Alpha) if saving an image with no alpha data, otherwise select Export Ace (Alpha) no DXT if image has corresponding alpha data). Image then should be saved to *.ace file you chose to be saved. Also, check that the *.ace file attribute is NOT set to "read only" (right click file, then select properties). If edited image is not saving or appearing on locomotive then there may be some other problem (corrupt file perhaps?).Good luck
