FriscoFX.ZIP
The fix for the bad installation file is now available for download. This is needed for anyone who downloaded the route prior to 8/29/04 and corrects a problem caused by Route_Riter assuming that only default files would be in the template folder. It then tried to copy the files from there instead of the default folders, and if any custom .ace files were in there it assumed they were default files and deleted them from the route.
The entire route will be available for download again Thursday. I was going to upload it today but some of the beta testers have run into a problem with the .apk files not unpacking so I am going to eliminate them completely and place all the activity related files in the proper directories with the install program.
Anybody who downloads the route after 9/1/04 will NOT need the FriscoFX.zip file.
For those of you unfortunate enough to have been in the middle of downloading when the route was pulled, I am sorry to report that you will have to start all over with the new version. The files you downloaded will not be compatable.
I am really sorry for this fiasco. I am sure you will enjoy the route once you get it running on your computer.Larry Friddle

Please read paragraph two.
I thought I was clear enough but maybe not.1. This is JUST the FIX for those who have the download the one that was pulled. This is NOT the entire route.2. The NEW entire route will be available for download Thursday.3. Those who download the NEW entire route when it becomes online Thursday will NOT need the FIX.4. If you have a partial download of the route that was pulled, erase them. They will not work with the NEW route files that will become available Thursday.

Fixed and working fine for me! I'm looking forward to exploring this little part of the USA BTW, from what I've explored so far I haven't seen any signals. I checked your documentation and nice schematics, but there's no mention of signals either. Am I missing something? The dedication to your grandfolks and family makes incredible reading! Wow, what a story! Thanks Larry for all your hard work.Cheers

RE: FRISCO - Fort Smith Subdivision FIX

Signals. That is the most common complaint I get. Alas, the route is dark just like the real one.Larry

Hi Larrywell, if it's prototypical not to have signals, then I can surely live with that! LOLThis should make for some interesting activities! Any takers?Cheers

About 1 out of every 10 people are reporting that the Road4to2LnT.S file and the Road4LaneT.ace files are missing. These are default MSTS files.
Road4to2LnT.s is in the global shapes folder and the Road4LaneT.ace is in the USA2 Texture folder and the .sd file is in the USA2 shapes folder.Larry

RE: FRISCO - Fort Smith Subdivision FIX

Most of the questions I am being asked have been answered here. Two haven't been addressed yet so I will tack em on. This seems like a good place. This thread will be un anchored next week and allowed to die a slow death.I am answering all email, but please, if you email me do something to keep my reply from being bounced back by your anti spam settings!QUESTION: If the route was dark, how did they run with a 60 MPH speed limit.
ANSWER: I goofed. I had planned on putting in speed limit signs before I released the route, but I just plum forgot in my rush to get the route out. I wanted it out August 21, 3 years to the day that I started work on it, and my birthday. It didn't happen anyway, but back to the subject. I wanted to keep the route limit high anyway. The reasoning for this is that at times it is very difficult to keep your speed below the speed limit and exceeding it even for a second in MSTS results in a derailment. I felt that was very unrealistic and unnecessary.
The overall speed limit for the route was 45 MPH from Rogers to Monett and 40 MPH (and later 35 MPH) from Rogers to Fort Smith. Congested areas, yards and so on would see 20, 15, and 10 MPH limits. So use your own judgment and set 40 as the max in your mind.Question: Where is the Roundhouse at Fort Smith, and at Fayetteville Junction since a siding is labeled 'Roundhouse track'?
Answer: The roundhouse at Fayetteville Junction was not there as far back as I can remember. Coonskin can probably give the history of that better than I can. The Fort Smith Roundhouse was still there in 1970 and here my esteemed FRISCO expert Coonskin and I have differing memories. He says the roundhouse remained in use until the late 70's. I think it sat there unused and decaying. To support my memory is the track chart from those years (included in the .pdf file in the documentation)which does not show the roundhouse tracks. It could be that Coonskin is correct and they just were not shown on the chart. During this time, he spent more time there than I did. I did not become interested in the railroad until many years later so his memory of the time is probably correct. Anyway I choose not to put it in, and that's the way it is.Larry
