In the last few days, when I hit the Tab key to ask for dispatcher permission to pass a red signal on any route, I have not received "permission granted" or "permission denied" audibly, even though "permission granted" has worked in the sim when needed. ie. when a work order has specified that I will need dispatcher permission to pass a red, and I hit the Tab key, I can pass the red, but if I don't hit Tab, I get "activity ended". So things are working as they should on the track, but HAL 9000 has lost his voice. Any ideas what is going on here and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
-AlBTW, I haven't yet tried a passenger activity to see if I get "OK to proceed". I think I'll try that to see if HAL can talk there. EDIT: OK, I just tried a couple of passenger activities on NEC 4.0 and the conductor told me it was "OK to proceed" from several stations. So why doesn't the dispatcher say "permission granted" or "permission denied" when I ask permission to pass a red signal like he used to? When appropriate, he still allows me to pass, I'm just not sure if I have permission until I pass the signal without "activity ended". Just adds to the thrill of the sim, I guess. Actually, not so thrilling, rather aggravating instead. Any one else had this?

RE: Dispatcher is mute.

a couple of thoughts:have you changed any of the sound sliders recently? I have found it helpful to set both the master and ambient sliders down to 50%.a large number of consists can also contribute to the mysterious bugaboos that inhabit the msts world. Train store can help, although I prefer to do the organizing manually...maybe this will help...Tim Baldwin
