When I run Train Store and store routes I have several activities that show asv out of date and MSTS will not run the activity until it has been recreated. Does this mean that I need to go into Activity Editor and redo the activity?

I received the same thing. What I did was load the route that was presenting the problem.Went to the AE,opened the activity and resaved. It worked for one of the routes but the Cajon Route still gives me that error warning.Hopefully the creator of this program will have a better answer.Anyone else have a solution to this problem.Claude Debnam NS Piedmont Division Raleigh East
The .asv file is a "copy" of the activity and not necessary for running the activity. According to the MSTS help file it "speeds" the loading of the activity file, but actually appears to have no effect. The .asv file is created by the "compute and save" option in the AE and this should get rid of the error. Also opening an activity in the AE that has a .asv file in the activities folder will cause the AE to erase the .asv file also "fixing" error. The file (.asv) can also be safely deleted without affecting the activity.Train Store doesn't unstore .asv files that have a different date than the activity file to prevent a potential conflict and you can run the activity even though you get this error. As always make a backups etc in case something goes wrong.Regards,Eric
Hmmm, I strongly suspect that ASVs have a PRIORITY over ACTs when selected ! (and you do not SEE whether you select an ASV or the underlying ACT...) Believe ASVs are more than a simple copy, they are precomputed activities, they rule !
So, if Trainstore does not delocalise them, you could still select, but miss your trains/consists. (Trainstore is a superb tool based on excellent ideas, but you better understand what it does or doesn't...)Or, if you manually edit (Wordpad) an ACT, or anything related (CON, SRV, TRF, PAT), better erase resp. replace/update (AE) any corresponding ASV, otherwise your changes will not take effect in the sim. Love and Peace
If the asv doesn't have the same date as it's corresponding activity Train Store will store or keep the asv file stored.I think that an asv is a complete copy of the activity including the pat, con, srv, and trf files that are used in it similar to the sav files only they at the starting point of the activity. There are some differences because you can't load it like an sav file. The act file must be there for it to load.If you load an activity in the AE it will automatically erase any corresponding asv file that is present.Regards,Eric
In explorer the .asv file is larger than the .act file so I assume it has more information. In the AE if you select the activity and save it will delete the .asv file. If you compute and save a new updated .asv file will be written.Regards,Waldo
I appreciate all of the information I have received from the forum on this issue. I opted to use the compute and save option and it seems to have solved the issue. I will post further updates if I encounter any new quirks along this line. Thanks fellow simmers. I just got started this spring enjoying the many great add-ons and other parts of the world available.RoyYakima, Washington
