I just downloaded and installed the CFMG Activity for KHP2. There seems to be a missing piece of rolling stock, namely cvc402381. Anybody know what this file is?Bill

RE: CFMG Activity

You forgot to mention the small detail that the SD40 CFMG is PAYWARE and the only way you will find out about this is when you go to the listed site to get it. I have already sent an email to the author about this little lack of information and I put a post in titled "Bait and Switch". If you don't know what that means, go used car shopping.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-13-04 AT 08:10 PM (EST)

The author did state that Gaetan's CFMG SD-40 was necessary on the download page. Everyone that has been here more than a couple of weeks knows about Gaetan and Club Valley Pass. We also know that Gaetan produces some of the most awesome models for MSTS. BTW, it's also not payware, but donationware. We also know that Gaetan is also generous...if you only want one of his models, send him an e-mail. He'll e-mail back a link to get the file.BTW...how much did you pay for the activity? I'll be willing to bet that you'll be back to bitch that activity is all in French.Bill

RE: CFMG Activity

Does it ever end?! How many more times are we going to have to hear from people who criticize everything & everyone? "Bait and Switch", are you kidding me? How cynical can you be? Some person creates some really fine locomotives and because he asks for a donation, he's accused of extortion! Yeah, I know I've left myself open for criticism for speaking my mind, but you know what? I don't give a crap! I've been here from day one and I'm very tried of all the ungratfull people who complain no matter what. I just don't know anymore, why do you designers bother? It's so sad.Mike

RE: CFMG Activity

The activity never said anything about Payware or "Donationware". I felt like this was misleading. If you don't, good for you. As far a "blind and cynical", get a life. All I criticized was what I considered a misleading statement. Also, I asked about the trainset and was given the link to the "donationware" site and a suggestion to pay $15.00 or $20.00. I did not ask him for something for nothing and he did not offer me something for nothing, either.I am sure that his models are worth every penny. I might have paid for it had that been mentioned up front. I don't mind paying him the $20 bucks. I only want it to be my idea. I have an honest difference of opinion on this so if you don't like it, too bad. After all, most of us still put our pants on one leg at a time and aren't omnipotent. Anyway, the author of the activity was not Gaetan. The author just said the trainset needed to run the activity was at a certain site and to go there to get it. It sure seemed like there was an ommision to me. After you get over your hysteria about this "attack", I suggest you look at the activity and let me know where it mentions "donationware". If letting us stupid and ignorant folks who aren't up on the trainsim elite and who just criticize everything and everyone know about something up front is not a problem, then just say so. It sure would have saved us all of this wasted time and space.Oh, I almost forgot, "and the horse you rode in on"

"Oh, I almost forgot, "and the horse you rode in on"". Just what I like, to be told off by someone crying because it was forgotten to mention about payware. You sir, get a life! It's a game! Sorry Nels and everyone else, I never meant to start a flame war. So I will end it now. Yeah, that's right I'm a baby!MikeSee, I sign my name.

RE: CFMG Activity

amadjuster,You don't seem it get it. You made a outwardly beligerent attack for NO reason. A lot of activities here require payware content, but with your vast experience (30 post, excuse me, 31 posts) you felt you were ripped off by something you got for nothing. You should join the other troll that had the nerve to ask for a free copy of the MSTS executable.Bill

RE: CFMG Activity

Bill, I am sorry I didn't ask you about this and I will put you on my list to pre-approve any messages I send in from now on. Although I have been in the forum since way back, I don't really post unless I have a reason so I didn't realize there was a social order and one had to post "x" number of times to be considered as a person of worth. I am not sure what I don't get but I am sure someone, perhaps you, will tell me. I made my post because I did have a reason. If you want to diminish it, as you apparantly have, then you are certainly free to do so. I also know about the other payware (or wasn't it "donationware"?) because it is mentioned in the descriptions. How do you think I got Kicking Horse Pass 2? I PAID for it.David

RE: CFMG Activity

bottom line david: you could run the activity with no problem if you simply edited the consist instead of engaging in these bad-mouthing hysterics. instead you chose to attack....who? the author of the activity? in the readme, he clearly stated, "Activite is required kicking Horse Pass 2.0 and SD40 CFMG by gaetan belanger available www.valleypass.com..." while you were concocting your witty one-liners, you might have considered that the author of the activity is French-Canadian, and might just be enthusiastic at seeing his local railroad portrayed in the sim. while he failed in his enthusiasm to mention that Gaetan's work was donationware, neither did he mention that KHP 2.0 is payware. He just wanted to create something to share...I can understand your disappointment, as you must see a lot of French Canadian locomotives down there in Amarillo Texas, and I'm sure that the activity took many precious seconds of your time to download - time that you could have spent creating more discord hereabouts...if not Jean-Francois, perhaps your attack was directed at Gaetan, but for what reason? I, and others like me, are sick of seeing generous and creative people maligned by social malcontents whose idea of give and take is "you give, I take..." anyone who has had any dealings with Gaetan knows what a fine gentleman he is...so now that you've received all this attention, perhaps you will crawl back under the rock from whence you slithered...have a nice day...Tim Baldwin

RE: CFMG Activity

I am a little puzzled by all of this. I re-read my posting (which is actually in context with the original theme)and stated my disappointment that there was no disclaimer about "Payware" or "Donationware", or whatever it is, and used the term "Bait and Switch" as it might be construed as a cause and effect situation. I mentioned no names, only the "author". Any conclusions here have been jumped to by the hyperzealous protection police. I have had a couple of e-mails with Gaetan since this all blew up and he is a nice fellow and not upset in the least. Why should he be? He is not the "author". Jumping to conclusions can be tricky. I was satisfied that he had nothing to do with this. Now as far as seeing any "Canadian" locomotives, I saw about 6 last week on the BNSF in various configurations. The Behlen Cutoff comes through Amarillo and it represents a majority of the BNSF Chicago-Las Angeles traffic. CN locomotives are also seen on UP coal trains that use the FW&D to Dallas. They are pretty common around here, actually. I don't live or crawl from under a rock. I live in a house that I own. We just don't have many rocks up here on the Plains. This is an alluvial plain and rocks are few and far between. Your last statement is not a constructive statement to press the issue that you think insults are bad. I am intrigued that the way you want to handle perceived or imagined personal attacks is to make very direct and blatant personal attacks from your lofty perch. I wonder if the response would have been as vitriolic if the author of the activity in question had been, say, John Reagan? Well, at least you didn't try a putdown based on the number of posts. Oh, and while you are sitting there trying to think of something really nasty to say to "put me in my place", go back and see all of the unwarranted insults I threw out that were not in direct response to personal attacks. I believe you are ahead on that score.Have a nice day. Oh, the one about the horse applies to you, too.David

RE: CFMG Activity

you see, it's really hard to determine motive in a forum such as this. I still don't understand why you found it necessary to raise such a fuss. the use of the term 'bait and switch' was totally unwarranted as no one coerced you into downloading the activity. you seem to imply that someone went to the trouble of creating and posting that activity merely to trick you into purchasing Gaetan's locomotives. that's silly...in both of my responses, i mentioned that you could use the activity merely by replacing the locomotives, and even offered a suggestion. in fact, i'd be glad to change the consist for you if you don't know how...it was the tone of your posts that led to the heated exchange. there are folks who post merely to rile things up. i wasn't the only one to come to the conclusion that your post had an ulterior motive...and it was your comment about the horse that lowered the level of the discussion. regarding that, i'll have to take a pass, but the horse might be amenable. you'll have to negotiate...i've heard that he insists on quid pro quo, so you might want to carefully reconsider... since you have discussed the matter with gaetan, i will apologize for the snake comment, and consider it closed...Tim Baldwin
