I posted this in the Activity Forum but have had not response, so I thought I would try here.I am working on an activity for Raton Pass 2 and I am having a little trouble. I set up 2 events at the start of the activity but the events do not trigger even though the required action was completed. The activity starts at the York Canyon coal mine with a 75 car coal train. Your are instructed to break the train between cars 40 and 41 and insert 2 helper engines and then pick up the last half of the train. I have set up 2 action events, one to record that you have picked your helpers and the other to record that you have picked up the last 37 cars of the train. I start the activity and perform the required actions but when you exit the activity detail summary indicates that I did not pick up the helpers and I did not pick the last 37 cars of the train. Does anybody know why this is happening?

RE: Action Events Not Recording Drop Offs and Pick Ups

This happens to me too. Even on Marias Pass of those "put this thing here" activities.I do it and put them in the siding and uncouple from them, but they never say their "completed".

I'm just saying. You could possiably make something like, Marias Pass with a "freestyle" activity if you wanted to.AKA...I am NOT good at dealing with pressure.-BeaverMon, AKA Ben-

If you want to do that, get the Marias 3.1 out of the library. I think it has the manual switches required for "freestyle" .

RE: Action Events Not Recording Drop Offs and Pick Ups

Hi,
From memory you have to have a location event set up at where you want the activity to end with its activation level set to the number of action events that are going to take place. In the action events window you add an activation level increasing by one after each action event takes place. Then fill in the triggered and untriggered text as required and then choose the required outcome which could be increasing your location events activation level by one. Once you carry out all your action events and run over the final location event your done. If you set the activation level correctly the event will be recorded with the triggered text even if you have not completed the activity. Hope that is a help.
Rich Garber produced a basic activity tutorial which is free. I think its on his site. It runs to about 30 pages and is invaluable.

The point is that we don't want the activity to end, ever, that is what we refer to as "freestyle". You don't follow a path, you don't complete certain requirements to enable the activity to end. Typically, the route is loaded with consists that can be picked up as one drops another off, then you move on to the next location and do the same. I drive this way day and night, night and day. That is why I have to place fuel points on most of the routes I use and why I'm always looking for more routes that have all manuel switches and maybe some good parallel (or almmost} tracks to place some around the clock AI. RE: Action Events Not Recording Drop Offs and Pick Ups

Hi,
I was trying to help the first guy. He did not mention freestyle. I have never thought about freestyle activities. I like to try and complete set activities and get a successful outcome as the creator devised. Try some of "Skyrats" and there is a real challenge there.

RE: Action Events Not Recording Drop Offs and Pick Ups

Action events are tricky : they do not EXACTLY monitor what common sense would suggest.Pick-ups require a location statement.
Activation levels need refined logics to intermangle correctly.
And outcomes must be well thought over.Very useful is often 'Assemble Train' (resp. dto. 'at location').Dig deeper, sure you'll get it allright !Love and Peace

It is like one has to enjoy complicated computer programming more than train siming to be bothered. Is it a "Freudian Slip" that you use the word "intermangle"? It seems that many people think this is what KUJU did to this program in general.Have a nice day.
