I've been using one of the camera hacks for MSTS, and it allows much more in the way you can look at the trains than the default settings. I'm now able to move the drive past camera around with the arrow keys, which is great, but I'm wondering if there's away to make it stick in one place longer. Unless I'm really close to the train it jumps to the next location too quickly, I'd like to see the whole train go by, or at least more of it, without hitting the CTRL+Arrow keys to focus on different cars as the train passes. Can this camera view be modded so that it stays around longer? Thanks!

Not really, but there are other solutions such as adding a yard cam view. Do a search for view 4 or something similar and you might come up with something you like.Mark A Southern Railway Fan

Unfortunately, there is no way to do it without pressing keys, but this solution works if you want to watch your whole train. While in the #4 view, position your view where you would like. Press the Ctrl-Shift-9 keys all at the same time. This will stop the camera from panning on the lead engine. Then, using the ctrl arrow keys, you can move back one car at a time with no jerk in the picture. Remember to only press the arrow key once for each car that goes by, or you will get the "target" car too far away from your camera which will cause the view to reset as it likes to do. Also be sure you are pressing the correct arrow since it depends upon which side of the train you are on, and you will not be able to see the movement since you have stopped the panning. It just takes some practice. You can undo the non-panning by pressing Ctrl-Shift-9 again.I ususally get real close to the track with the train coming and watch the whole thing go by (it is easy to position the camera if you have hacked your camcfg.dat file). To do this, find camcfg.dat in your global folder inside the MSTS folder. Make a backup somewhere. Open it with WordPad or your favorite text editor. A ways down you will find the spotter cam (this the number 4 camera). My settings are as so:camera ( CamTypeSpotter CamType ( CamTypeSpotter CamControlFull ) Fov ( 70 ) ZClip ( 0.5 ) WagonNum ( 0 ) Description (Spotter_Cam) ObjectOffset (0.0 3.0 0.0)By changing the camera control to full, you can fly around like a helicoptor, but you must stay relatively close to the "target". If you have RailDriver, your 4-way toggle on the right and the up/down buttons will move the camera as well.Hope this give you ideas. Also, try playing with the Fov number above. That is the focal view, and can greatly change the look. I like mine at 70, but it is all in taste.Bryce

Bryce, what you posted is what I've been doing, although I haven't been able to keep the cam in place long enough for a long train to go by yet. I usually was trying to stay a few cars ahead and losing my place, it always ended up skipping to another location before too long. Guess I'll have to practice more.It would be nice if we could play with the distance the train is from the cam before it resets so that we could just watch instead of tapping keys the whole time. Thanks for your help guys,D
