Several routes stored in Train Store v2 are no longer there. Either I goofed, or the program has gone haywire! Don't know what happened!Checked "Stastics" under Tools and it indicates that no routes are stored, and only three routes are active and available. They all seem to still be there in the MSTS directory, but I can't access them through Train Store or "unstore" them and of course, I can't open them in the sim either, so it's like they're no longer installed. Also all the Maint Mode consists and stock have disappeared too. Have clicked the Rebuild Cache Files command several times, but it made no difference. I guess I could live without those routes since they are the default ones, but don't I need them unstored before adding new routes or new activities?I added some new stock, consists and a couple of activities but didn't unstore everything first. Could that have caused it? What can I do at this point? Anyone got any ideas? I'm stumped!!

RE: Stored Routes In TS v2 Have Disappeared!

Because you only have a few Routes left, and you say all of the Maintenance Mode lists have gone, it looks like you have deleted files from the Train Store storage folder (definitely not recommended). If this is so, then I would expect that your MSTS folders still contain all of the files except the .eng, .wag and .trk files which you had stored at the time the files were deleted. If they are still in the Recycle Bin, restore them quickly and try and continue from there. If you have emptied the Recycle Bin, you will need to restore the original files from backups.Did you make any changes to your system at the time? Have you done a System Restore (This is not an invitation to do one! I just want to know have you done one)?Adding new stock, consists etc. could not cause this.

RE: Stored Routes In TS v2 Have Disappeared!

Hello Tony: thanks for the reply. First off, yes I have used the XP system's "System Restore"...a couple of times. Had to resort to it when a virus got into my system and screwed things up. It was the only way to get the cptr running again. Maybe the System Restore dumped them out of TS. Could that be the cause?
Then I must admit I did drop some stock and some consists which, now that I think of it, were in the Maint Mode lists. And I didn't think to use 'unstore' before doing it. I probably screwed things up for myself in doing so. The ones I dropped are no longer in the Recycle Bin either. So, would that be the reason why the Maint Mode lists are empty? Can I go ahead and build new Maint lists at this point or would that complicate the problem further?Train Store was working so well for me that I kinda forgot it was there and went and did things to my consists and stock without thinking about TS. I don't know what I did to cause the stored activities to disappear. What can I do to get the missing activities back? Would appreciate any thoughts you might have. Jon

RE: Stored Routes In TS v2 Have Disappeared!

Dear Jon,System Restore! It told you "some folders were renamed to preserve their files"? Is that correct? If so, Please e-mail me direct, with your e-mail address, so I can send you a utility which I have developed to get out of the System Restore 'folder(2)' problem.Basically, System Restore sometimes creates parallel sets of folders with a numeric suffix e.g. Routes(2)You can sort it out by moving the files back by hand, but that can take a long time. This utility will do it very quickly.
