Has anyon made a free drive in which there is freight cars in yards and on sidings and AI traffic? Is it possible to even do that, have no tasks to do but still have the fun of playing with other trains, with no rules?

RE: Free Drive?

I've attempted something simular to that, but didn't have any AI traffic (don't know how to do paths for AI trains). It was in Marias Pass of backing up and getting a cut of cars ready for a Eastbound run.
My version was to do that, BUT, take them yourself and place them where they need to go.You could do that...but you need to learn how to do paths for AI Trains, how they will interact with eachother, where will they go, and all of that other good stuff.Basically, lol, you need to know more then I do to do a "free play with AI traffic" activity.-BeaverMon, AKA Ben-

RE: Free Drive?

Dude, I thank you. That is very informative (expasually the thing about adding the end point of the player train away from the switches, giving the player freedom...I would of never thought of that)!I do have a question about that! Can you PLAY as long as you want? Does the activity end once you hit the end point?
Or perhaps I need to read earlier. -BeaverMon, AKA Ben-

RE: Free Drive?

Hi Ben !You can go past the End point and drive in the Activity for as long as you like as long as there are no specific tasks and time tables to adhere to, programmed into the Activity and Signals are being paid attention too if there are AI trains in the Activity also. FREESTYLE as I call it, sort of EXPLORE mode with the benefit of having other Rolling Stock to play with ! O t t o

RE: Free Drive?

" Does the activity end once you hit the end point? "In my experiance, there is a "default event" automatically placed at the end of a path in the Activity Editor. For "freestyle" to work you have to delete the event, other wise it will end the activity at the end of the path.Have fun Wild Willy the Wacko

RE: Free Drive?

A weird thing about AI traffic is that when it hits it's end point, it disappears into thin air. Trust me, in the buy-from-a-store add-on High Speed Trains, I looked and a 10-car AI train hit the buffers and disappeared.

RE: Free Drive?

I've seen that with NEC4. Saw a train pull into Washington and then disappear in thin air like it was never there.-BeaverMon, AKA Ben-

RE: Free Drive?

Yes, that's the way KUJU has designed AI trains to work. Appear out of nowhere at their "Start Point" and then disappear again at their "End Point". If they did not do the latter then there would be an almighty pile-up caused by other AIs following at intervals ! O t t o
