Greetings allFirst this is not intended to smear the fine people at MLT. I posted the same on their forum but wanted to see if anyone here had the same problem.I took some 3DTS SD70M's (UP) plus a train of TTX double stacks and was making a run southbound. Near MP 503 (Chenault or Chenult) the whole world goes flukey. I first got SMS file can not load then I got missing shapes. Soon I was flying across a barren lanscape with no tracks. Has anyone else encountered this...??ThanksBob

Forgot to add I was able to save and restart it but it took two times. The first time everything self destructed then I was fine after I rebooted.BobFlorida Railfan Page

RE: Cascade crossing problem

MLT has always backed their products...if there is a problem....they usually come through with a fix. I`m sure they will in this case. CG

RE: Cascade crossing problem

Bob,Though I don't think this is a documented location, sounds like you hit a "great white void". If it is, its not an MLT problem, but a know MSTS bug.If it happens again, do a save, then see if you can pan under the train with the '2' or '3' keys. If you can then its definately a "white void".

Sharon, perhaps not - Bob shouldn't see "barren landscape" when in a GWV. It sounds more like a memory issue: On large routes with a lot of tracks and roads (i.e. large .tdb and .rdb files) some heavily populated tiles can push MSTS over the limit once it lacks the memory to load the items for the next tile - So it just loads a barren tile (i.e. the .t file, but not the .w file). As the .tdb and .rdb is always loaded, MSTS knows where the train will be going, and you can continue the trip over barren land... As saving and reloading seems to cure the problem, it sounds like memory - and not like a fatal problem with an object in the tile. Maybe MLT just needs to bring down a few 100 trees there and replace them with a forest region or two, freeing 20 - 50KB on that .w file Lukas a.k.a Swissie

RE: Cascade crossing problem

Hi Lukas !With a hot Summer in full swing in that area it will not be long before some careless campers will take care of thinning out some of the woods ! O t t o

Oh no not GWV for sure. I am very aware of what that looks like. :-)Memory issues well I have a very top of the line machine however (and I hope the fine folks at Surfliner have thought about this) MSTS seems to have a limit of how detailed can it be. NEC4.0 is a good example. If you make a run with NALW AEM-7's and stock the game, not the machine begins to overload and starts doing wierd things. Sometimes a reload does not help :-( on NEC 4.0.So it may be that the route is too good too detailed and MSTS is not handling it well. I have also encountered this on a few other high end routes. Yes I have faith in MLT I know they will back their stuff. Even with this problem I like Cascades and would recomend it or any other MLT product. BobFlorida Railfan Page
