VIA Dash 9 won't work

Reading Topic #24391

Ok, I just downloaded the blue VIA Dash 9 from the file library. It works as a helper unit but when I make it the lead unit on a consist an error message pops up that says, "Error reading train database file: Microsoft Games/Train Simulator/VIA Dash 9 blue/via_dash9b.eng." Can anyone help me with this?P.S. Another one also pops up concerning the .s file of that same loco.

When installing the downloaded equipment ALWAYS read the Readme file.#3. Copy & Paste the "Cabview" & "Sound" files from another Dash9 folder.This is why the unit will operate in a consist when it is not the lead unit as it does not need the "Cabview" or "Sound" files.Nascarphan

I tryed mrmike's idea and it didn't work.
Nascarphan, I did read the readme and I did put cabview and sound folders in the Blue Dash 9 directory but it still doesn't work.P.S. Mrmike, I would have never thought to put VIA and PRR stuff together in one consist. Nice combo!

Andy, I just slapped together a consist to test it out.Did you spell the file folder exactly the way I described? Using CAPS & lower case & the underscore. Also are all the locomotive files in this folder along with the Default Dash9 cabview & sound folders? My Computer specs are in my profile

Still doesn't work. And when i use it as a helper, now it imitates the loco in front of it and becomes that. (an FPB-4, at that.)

Andy,I downloaded the VIA dash9, unzipped the file to a temporary folder named VIA_Dash9b, copied the "Cabview" and "Sound" folders from the default Dash9 to the folder named VIA_Dash9b. I then moved this folder into my Trainset folder. I then used Conbuilder to check for any errors and then created a consist. The locomotive loaded whith no errors and I was able to run the VIA Dash9 in the explore mode. I checked the .eng file and found that the braking section needs to be modified. Open the .eng file using Wordpad and look for the following section:Brake_Train ( 0 1 0.0125 0.75
NumNotches ( 5
Notch ( 0 0 TrainBrakesControllerReleaseStart )
Notch ( 0.3 1 TrainBrakesControllerGraduatedSelfLapLimitedStart )
Notch ( 0.85 0 TrainBrakesControllerSuppressionStart )
Notch ( 0.9 0 TrainBrakesControllerContinuousServiceStart )
Notch ( 0.95 0 TrainBrakesControllerEmergencyStart )In Notch (0.3 1 add the word Holding after Limited and then save the file. The line should look like this:Notch (0.3 1 TrainBrakesControllerGraduatedSelfLapLimitedHoldingStart )Without the word Holding the brakes will not work properly. After you make a brake pipe reduction and then try to release the brakes the trainline brakepipe preassure will drop to zero acting like you made an emergency brake application.Also under the coupling section change the damping line to read /m/s.Here is a coupling section from one of my locomotives that includes the front coupler fix.
