Hey everyone, I used a program in the library ReCompilier a ways back. I recently reinstalled it but it gives me an error saying patch not found. Any clue what patch it means?
Use Route Riter or the Shape File Manager, both very convenient for un-compressing and compressing Shape files, which I think is what you mean, the latter specific for working with them and with a direct link to WORDPAD.www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim /UtilitiesO t t o
Hi John,Route-Riter uses exactly the same code as the Recomp/Decomp program which was given to me by Martyn Griffin the original author. So it will give you the same abilities.Mike
Hi Mike !Thanks for pointing that out ! Saves me downloading Martyn's Recomp/Decomp somebody mentioned recently.Had a few Rolling Stock shapes which were were supplied uncompressed the Shape File Manager had a problem with compressing but Route Riter did not. The same the other way around, Route Riter uncompressed some the SFM could not.Take Care, O t t o.
Hi Otto,Yes, SFM uses ffeditc_unicode.exe for comp/decomp and Route-Riter uses Martyn Griffin's code. I am working with Carl-Heinz on some testing of these compression routines, because as you say there are some files which one program will compress and some which the other will do.This is possibly because there are two flags in ffeditc_unicode.exe for file compression /u and /c omitting the flags defaults to /u and this is how most files are compressed, but if the /c flag is used, then it appears that RR will not uncompress the file. Furthermore, ffeditc will not uncompress files with certain characters in the filename, e.g. Horse&Cart.sMike
> Furthermore, ffeditc will not uncompress files with certain > characters in the filename, e.g. Horse&Cart.s Thanks for pointing that out, Mike !Just a case of temporarily renaming the file, work on it and rename it back again when done ! If the associated .sd is involved using the SFM then that one would have to be renamed too.O t t o
