RE: Difference Between Kosmos and Sky Conductor??

Gerald,Sky Conductor is OLD. Kosmos is NEW and can do so much more. Sky Conductor only changed the sky...Kosmos changes the environment. All the environments that were in Sky Conductor are in Kosmos, thanks to Jak Fearon, the author of Sky Conductor. Others, Michael Sinclair among them, have written additional modules for Kosmos.Be careful, don't get struck by the lightning!!!Bill

There is however issues with Kosmos and one of the Winter settings that effects .Ace files that contain alpha channels.I originally thought it was a NALW problem, BUT running non NALW equipment showed the same issues.I'll post a couple screen shots later to show the issues.Besides that one winter setting ... Kosmos is a great utilty.Later

OOps!You're absolutely right. I was just not aware that Jak had placed the files in the Train-Sim library. Yes, those certainly are the Sky Conductor plug-ins for Kosmos.Check out Jak's site anyway. It's got useful info and some other MSTS utilities. Thanks!Jeff

RE: Difference Between Kosmos and Sky Conductor??

Yes. I know that I'm the responsible party for Kosmos. But, for the life of me, I've never understood what it is that a route builder does so that "Sky Conductor is required" or "Kosmos is required". Maybe one of the route builders who's made one of those routes could comment on this?Kosmos simply swaps in new files so that a route can use a new or different environment. That route, as supplied by anyone who makes one, HAS GOT to have some basic environment files in its structure. It's part of the route template from which each route starts, at least as I understand it. It may be as simple as the default MSTS environment files, but something has got to be active in the ENVFILES folder of the route. So I'm hoping that one of those route builders could clarify this. It would certainly help me understand how Kosmos is being used, so when I get around to version two, I'm in a better position to make useful improvements.By the way, there's no problem with having both Sky Conductor and Kosmos installed. But if you use both, you'll find that sometimes Sky Conductor doesn't work the way it's intended to. Complete details in the Kosmos help file. But since Jak Fearon released the Sky Conductor skies in Kosmos format, there's really no reason to have both installed.Jeff

RE: Difference Between Kosmos and Sky Conductor??

Thats my reason for asking about Kosmos and SkyConductor. I had a good bit of probs with installing SkyConductor and i was wondering if it required Kosmos.

Ups....... I'm not sure dude im kind of like a "virgin" to all this. Personally, Kosmos and Sky Conductor is my first time venturing out of "Default Land". Im able to do more now that I have me a bigger and better comp. I bought msts 2 years ago cause I love me some trains! You know you love trains if you buy the software and don't have a comp to play it on! I know someone will have an answer to ya question! Just sit tight in ya locomotive till you get the correct signal my friend!
