Hi everybody... I guess I'm new here, so I'd like to share a recent experience with you all, then ask for help regarding a problem that has come up with MSTS.Last week I enjoyed a three day raft trip down the Deschutes River in Central Oregon, along a stretch of about fifty miles. We put in at the Warm Springs Indian Reservation and floated north through the incredible scenery of the high desert. Canyon walls rose hundreds of feet above the river and even higher peaks could be seen to the west; the Cascades. The BNSF and UP share the railroad line from the Columbia River (Wishram WA, The Dalles OR) that winds along the Deschutes to Bend, OR, and south to California, also known as the Modoc Line. Every day 3 or 4 through freights would pass by as well as The Dalles local running between The Dalles and Bend, sporting one of the last cabooses in action. One night we were camped in a very closed in canyon, with a full moon overhead, and the trains would snake there way up the river, illuminating the canyon walls. I was amazed at the diversity of rolling stock on this somewhat secluded mainline. I saw CSX, Norfolk Southern, and Canadien National engines, apart from BNSF and UP. I'm kicking myself for not getting any good pics; I would have enjoyed sharing some shots with everyone. It was excellent train action, the rafting wasn't bad either.
Now for the problem... I recently switched computers and started over with an empty hard-drive. I copied all the rolling stock from my old trainset that I wanted to keep, it was a chance to get rid of stuff I never use anymore. Then I installed MSTS and got it in the same working order I had before (Graphic settings, camera, etc). Then I downloaded the new Whitefish route (Whitefish5 or something) and enjoyed a few runs on this beautiful extension and revamping of previous work. I decided to start making my own activity, but when I looked for the `editors and tools` in the start menu it was nowhere to be found. There isn't even a `Train Sim` folder under `Microsoft Games`. The MSTS folder is in the MS Games folder in Program Files on the hard-drive and the game runs perfectly. I wondered if something happened during installation, so I re-installed, but it still didn't show up. Does anyone have any ideas where I might access the Editors and Tools program so I can create my own activities? Thanx-Matt

RE: A Story and a Problem

Make a shortcut to ..\\..\\launcher.exe. Rightclick on the shortcut, go to Properties and add "-runeditor" to launcher.exe (without the quote marks).Rob

RE: A Story and a Problem

Hey Rob,
After adding "-runeditor", I try to close `properties` and I get an error message that says the target is invalid and I have to return it to the original one. Any ideas?

RE: A Story and a Problem

The Railroad from the Columbia River to Bend, OR. is known as the Oregon Trunk, owned by BNSF and where UP has trackage rights. The grade on the opposite side of the river was the original UP line that was taken up some time ago. The entire route from Wishram, Oregon to Keddie California is also known as the Inside Gateway. The Modoc Line was something else entirely. It was a line that ran from Klamath Falls, Oregon to northern Neveda owned by SP. It allowed SP to shortcut traffic moving from Oregon to Utah, without having to go deep into California (Roseville). Common Trains on the OT:
BNSF:

H-PASBAR
