As noted in the Route Design forum, I have uploaded my "Smoother Tracks" to the file library, and they can be found under the name smoother.zip. These are replacement shapes for the default MSTS track. Installation requires no Route Editor time nor any modification to any tsection.dat file. I posted here as well because of the hope that more than just route-designers will use these shapes. I hope you all enjoy the new shapes as much as I do. A more in-depth look can be found here: http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&forum=DCForumID6&om=12274Cheers,
Mark

D/L and installed. Everything looks great. If there are some curves that look jagged, is that because of dynamic track?

RE: Smoother tracks package available in file library

Yes, it is because they were made with dynamic track. I think with dynamic, the sim generates a straight piece of rail every 1-degree of turn, so it is a lot more noticeable with larger radii.Mark

Mark, a definite improvement visually. Due to the above, you can really tell the difference if much dynamic track was used, which in my case has been a boatload Really makes the other look especially good.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

RE: Smoother tracks package available in file library

Hi guys,Will changing to these files affect payware routes that may have different track? Or, is it just the default routes that will see the change? What should I expect from this?I'm not a track expert, and don't want to mess up anything. I know I should and will back-up the files, but am curious.Bryce

RE: Smoother tracks package available in file library

It will affect any route that uses the default curved track, regardless of whether it is payware or not. If you look at the file listing in the library, you can see what pieces I changed. In a nutshell, it is all of the 250, 500, 1000, 1500, and 2000 meter curves that are included in the orginal, default tsection.dat file. You won't mess anything up by installing them correctly.Mark

RE: Smoother tracks package available in file library

Robert,I totally hear you. The ironic thing, is in the route I've been working on (for forever, it seems as if it'll never be done!), I used dynamic track for every single freakin' curve on the whole 200-miles+ that I have laid! Then I got involved in making some new turnouts, and I realized that I could improve the default curves fairly easily with all of the templates I had made in gmax making the turnouts. In case you can't tell, I really like track! Anyway, glad you like.Mark
