G'day, Chuck.......Google will translate pages for you, (except Cyrillic languages), or try babelfish from Yahoo.
Anyway, the downloads are fairly self-explanatory.
( I only have Oz-English )
It's worth a punt, just to see what Philippe's achieved.Cya

Ha - Interesting concept! At least you haven't got to worry about outside sound!"In space no-one hears flanges scream" Looks like the author has put a lot of work into this project though. It's not for me, but I admire what he has done.Cheers

Yeah Guys I know about google and bablefish! And have even used them....I was just jerking some chains on here....P.S. there is even a chance that I know a word or two of Francias...
However my vocabulary, a product of Navy Days in NATO (Forget the 3 years in High School) and earlier in SE Asia, is usually limited to phrases that begin Voulez Vous and end with a fiscal transaction...

RE: Jules Verne is alive and well......................

"dipped in Nuoc Muoam "Can't help you with the spelling, pronouced nuic mann?Want to guess what this stuff is? You don't want to be anywhere near the villages where this stuff is produced.I believe it was used as a sauce on rice in that area. (Holding my nose and making a mad dash for the commode.)"Phuc Ngo" The sound made by this critter.I'll have to check this route out. Certainly something different.Wonder if it would be possible to simulate a route for the proposed space elevator? You would need to shortened it by 59,000 miles for the sim. Only need 9 tiles for the route as it is all vertical. Would need its own special lift and physics. (Set gravity to 0.01)SRV Ron

>Close enough for government work! Euphemistically called "fish sauce"...
Or semi-biodegraded soy sauce with Fish heads to give it body and a soupçon of Thai style hot peppers...
Drink Napalm to put out the flame and you don't want to ask a "Round Eyed (i.e. Occidental) girl to kiss you after eating this stuff...
Guaranteed to Gag a Maggot! >"Phuc Ngo" The sound made by this critter.
>It is a proper Vietnamese name correctly pronounced something like Pook No! Most wise a$$ed GIs (I think some of my Chiefs and Officers would have numbered me in this class at this stage in my career) replaced the P with a F when mispronouncing it and used it in answers to officers questions like, Q. "Do you know Who did this?" A. "Phuc Ngo" you get the idea... It was a running joke...Jeep spelled Giap as in General Giap...
A while bastahd if there ever was one...
Not a particularly good commander by western standards as he had a habit of killing up to half his men just getting them into position and never heard of treating his wounded during the battle... Among other things... Supposedly the the 10K civilians shot and dumped into trenches at Hue during the "Tet Offensive" were done so at his orders...

RE: Jules Verne is alive and well......................

It's more like fermented fish sauce. (It smells like rotting fish.) It appears to have been produced in villages along the Siagon area and only a certain species of fish was suitable for fermenting for this purpose. You could smell the stuff for miles. The lizzard did make the sound with the f y. Fast little buggers to catch. (We could catch them with a slow lasso on a stick.)My tour of duty ended before the Tet Offensive, when we abandoned the villages to protect the cities and it all went to hell afterwards. (Same liberal news media that is trying to screw up the war on terror today turned that victory into defeat.)I'll check out the space simulator. Certainly much harder if it is set up correctly. 3-D direction, orbital physics, inerta, etc.The Space Elevator could be for real in 15 years. The materials to build one, the carbon nanotubes ribbon, will soon be available. The trick is in constructing the first one which has to be done in space at about 22,000 miles out.I have worked with graphic fibers when they first came out. Extremly strong stuff for its weight and size. You use epoxy to bond it to what you are working on. The nanotubes will be far stronger but more flexable.SRV Ron

RE: Jules Verne is alive and well......................

in answer to 'rpicardi1', (Ron?), there is a space simulator called
'Orbitor', free download, I think you can get it from the Flight Sim site, which has a great number of add-ons, (also free), of rockets, space-shuttles, satelites, and some fictional stuff, including a Space Elevator.
it's a fun sim, but you have to be a rocket scientist to use it properly,( much harder than driving a train !) Some quite real models have been made for it.
