Version 4.0 is now in the file library. From the Readme:Version 4 is NOT an add-on to the former route, but is an all-new complete set of files to replace the route you may already have. Major changes were made in Version 4. More than 44 miles of track have been added, mostly in the form of yards in the Denver area. The yards at Utah Junction (which now includes major servicing facilities) and North Yard are much larger. Yards have been added at Fox Junction and in the greater depot area. Junctions themselves have been redone to be more accurate at Utah Junction, Fox Junction, and Prospect Junction. Union Station leads are now double track. There is a new double track freight lead going south out of the depot area. Leads from Burlington Chicago, Burlington Cheyenne, and UP Cheyenne are upgraded. Much of this is based upon a 1936 map, to the extent that I could fit things in. Trackwork at the Tabernash Station is changed to better provide for meets and for new signals there, with a new platform added. Many more buildings have been added. Special thanks to Mark DiVecchio for his models of actual old buildings and related items around Moffat Depot, and the depot itself. Seven more stations have been added, and two mountain resort hotels from years ago. We now have a square water tower below Tunnel 31, as close as I could find to the real one. I've added the 16th Street viaduct, the drop-down from the 20th Street viaduct into the yards at 19th Street, and some vehicles, people, and sounds. Sound volumes are intended to be right for MSTS default sound settings. (A quieter wheel squeal is provided in a backup file in the Sounds folder.)I have finally put the route in the Route Specifications Forum too.Don
The only stupid question is the one not asked.Short answer: Both.Pick a time period from 1905 to 2004. Scenery and services are based on the 1930s more or less. Road names: See the readme for history. Rio Grande from 1947 to 1990s. Add SP in 1990s. UP today, with BNSF trackage rights. Amtrak too.Don
Thank you, you're right. It's just the way the things have been going around here lately you have to be carefull of what you say. Looking forward to running on the route.Mike
Just one extremely simply one, with a default consist, to keep MSTS happy. More to follow. I've been holding back because they will require lots of add-on locomotives and rolling stock. I have one steam train activity over the pass, with 25 or so station stops and about a dozen meets, but I have not even made a list of the 40 or so add-ons required. Not a single default consist is suitable for this route. There are 36 starting points in Explore Route, most going in both directions.Activities by other people, in the file library, were made for earlier versions of the route, and would probably work if broken paths are repaired (redone). To get into the Activity Editor without error messages, you need a consist (any consist) with the name Speedster-UP.Don
