I downloaded NJC, but did not have the files required from the default MSTS routes, so I 'unstored' everything in Train Store, reinstalled MSTS (so I would have europe1, europe2, etc., etc.), installed the update patch, then reinstalled NJC.Now, when I start MSTS, it does not recognize the existence of USA_NJC and Conrail Indy crashes on startup. It does recognize all of the other routes (defaults plus NEC 4.0 and Ohio Rail), and TrainStore shows all the routes as being available. Is this a Train Store issue?, an MSTS issue? Xtracks? Help!!RGF

If you used 'Unstore Everything!' there is nothing stored in Train Store. So that shouldn't be the problem.I don't know about any particular requirements of the routes you mentioned, but perhaps the MSTS reinstall has resulted in some updated items for those routes being deleted.Have you tried running Route_Riter to see what is actually wrong/missing?

RE: Can't Find Route

I tried route-riter and it tells me I'm missing a texture file:"hitw-bluesky.ace"Would that prevent MSTS from seeing USA-NJC??

Hi,hitw-bluesky.ace is part of Sky Conductor done long ago by How in the World. www.howintheworld.com
The package is retreaded, they have integrated it in Kosmos. You can try to install Kosmos to get rid of this problem.Otherwise look in the .trk file in the root of the route folder and see what Environment is listed.
Eg when you see this:
Environment (
SpringClear ( "USA2sun.env" )
SpringRain ( "USA2rain.env" )
SpringSnow ( "USA2snow.env" )
SummerClear ( "USA2sun.env" )
SummerRain ( "USA2rain.env" )
SummerSnow ( "USA2snow.env" )
AutumnClear ( "USA2sun.env" )
AutumnRain ( "USA2rain.env" )
AutumnSnow ( "USA2snow.env" )
WinterClear ( "USA2sun.env" )
WinterRain ( "USA2rain.env" )
WinterSnow ( "USA2snow.env" )
)
you can copy the Environment folder of the USA2 route over the Environment folder of the route. And so each Environment of the six default routes, has its own abbreviation.Dick van den HovenCan't Find Route – image 2

I tried route-riter and it tells me I'm missing a texture file:
"hitw-bluesky.ace"
Would that prevent MSTS from seeing USA-NJC?? The answer is no. Do you have the .trk file in the root directory of NJC? As I remember it is the .trk file that makes the route visible to MSTS. I also believe that the hitw textures were part of the NJC so it is possible that you have a corrupt download. I would delete your current copy of NJC, download the install files and updates again and then attempt a reinstall. Also, even though many others have no trouble running MSTS with Train Store, I have had problems like yours when trying to add routes to MSTS with Train Store installed. (Not bashing the program - just stating my experience with it.) I uninstalled Train Store from within the program, it restored everything fine and I have had no trouble installing routes since then.

How did I survive before MSTS

RE: Can't Find Route

Hi Rick !The way I understand TRAINSTORE to work is that it does not remove any of the MSTS Default Folders but just hides their .trk files ?If you have all the MSTS Default Routes Folders in Train Simulator\ROUTES then any Add-On Route should install O.K. !The N.&.J.C. also needs XTracks and the Tsection.dat which comes with it. Don't know about the Conrail Indy. For a Route to show in MSTS it not only needs a .trk file it also needs PATH.pat files.O t t o

RE: Can't Find Route

I do have a .trk file for NJC. None of my routes have a file called "path.pat", though all but Bodiddly and USA-NJC have files with Path.pat as part of the file name.I still haven't had any luck. I'm going to uninstall Train Store, delete the NJC route and start over. I'll keep you posted.

RE: Can't Find Route

Rick, the "Path.pat" is only demonstrating the format of PATH files a Route needs in order to be used. The "Path" part can be anything ! Every Route must have a Folder called PATHS and unless there are .pat files in it the Route will not show in MSTS.O t t o

RE: Can't Find Route

OK. There is a PATHS file and it has 91 *.pat files in it, so that's not it.I'm going to reinstall Xtracks and see if that makes a difference. Grasping at straws now......

RE: Can't Find Route - FIXED!!!!!!!!!! (and a new quest

Re-installed X-Tracks and everything is fine. Thanks to all of you for your help. One last question. I've been a user for 2 years now. How does one get started with route building? I have old track diagrams of several NYNH&H facilities and I'd like to try my hand at building a small switching route.RGF
