Making Ditch Lights Flash Alternately

Making Ditch Lights Flash Alternately – image 1

What would I need to add/change in a loco's .eng file to get the ditch lights to alternately flash like the CSX, NS, CR, & SP's all did? And by doing that would it show the proper effects at night?

If you just want the ditch lights to flash ALL the time, just take a look at the lighting in the original BNSF GP38's Eng file, (original Dash9 also?) they annoyingly flash all the time. Just see what is different in the ditch light lighting from your what your Eng file says, outside of the lights location, the x,y,z locations. Hope this is what you were asking...

The line "States ( 2" is what gives it the flashing, the first "state" has "LightColour ( ffffffff )", which is full bright white, the second LightColour ( 00000000 ) which is unlit black. If you look down furtherthe left flashing light has them flipped, with the first state lights off, second state lights on. "Duration ( 0.3 )" can also be adjusted for taste, to make them flash faster or slower.

Bradley, There is more to it than Sniper says there.....e-mail me direct. I can send you the coding for BOTH and make them look better than what he has there. No slam intended, but that is what I do in here. I have done many of the systems for alternating ditchlights and have the coding and ground effects..Just e-mail me. niceoneace@aol.com I promise it won't take long to reply...LOL

I've never seen ditch lights flash on CSX, NS, CR, or SP locomotives and the only flashing ditch lights I've ever seen are on Amtrak's Genesis P42DC, and they only flash when the horn is sounded.

Yes on mostly all CSX and NS units now, they all alternately flash when the horn or bell is sounded. Ex CR and ex SP units did that also.
