Hello,I just tried to install the Marias Pass 3.1 route. I installed all 7 parts, and it installed correctly. I started the sim, and all was fine. I was able to start activities with no problem.I then installed the activities, the non-default rolling stock that came with the package, and the 3 fixes. Now, MSTS will not load! I get the opening splash screens, then the screen with the yellow status bars that appear during loading. Then the screen turns black for a few moments and I get the message that there was an error during loading and the program has to close, and asks me to send or don't send a report. No matter which I press, MSTS closes and I'm back at my desktop. I cannot get even get to the menus that stated "Load saved activity", "Drive a Train", etc...Any ideas how to solve this problem? Thanks!

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

A couple of things to try:-rerun the batch file if there is one,
check the route with Route Riter,
delete the route and start again and see what happens.Derek

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

Thanks for the replies!Interestingly, if I moved the MP 3.1 folder out of the MSTS folder, then the sim will still not start (I get the Microsoft and Kuju splash screens, the MSTS screen with the yellow progress bars also appears, but then the screen goes black for awhile and I get the message that the program has to close and if I want to send the error report - the sim then closes).I re-ran the batch file, deleted the route and reinstalled - still the same problems. I also have XTracks installed previously with no problems.I appreciate any other assistance.Kind Regards,

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

You dumped a whole load of stuff into your MSTS trainset folder as well, and a mess of consists, any one or combination of which, could be the cause of your problems. It is more likely to be an item or items in the trainset folder because these are checked by the sim as it starts up.If you dont have Train Store, get it, install it, read the instruction file(100 pages), and then use it to store everything except the default routes. If trainsim starts then, you know that the fault lies in the stored items. MervynBeer is not a matter of life and death. It is much more serious than that.

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

Derek, I'll have to get back to you as to what Route Riter says, as I'm on a biz trip for a few days. Can I get this "Train Store" here at Train-Sim, or is it from another location?
Thanks again!

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

BTW, as I am learning Route Riter, could you please tell me which operation I should use to analyze this situation? Also, what result(s) am I looking for? I ask so I can answer your question appropriately. Thanks!LogJam

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

OK, having come back from my business trip, I now have time to try this again.I checked MP3.1 with RouteRiter, as suggested above and found the following:First, I checked the route and got the message, "No errors found...". So that is good.Second, I checked the activities and got an error message for a different route which I had installed months before without the load problems I discussed in previous posts. Third, I used the "Check/Fix Rolling Stock" button and got some errors, again for a different route which never caused the load problems.
I am open to suggestions, and am now going to Train Store. I'll report when finished.Kind Regards,

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

When you ran Route-Riter and checked all activities how many consists did it say you have? MSTS is really strange about the number of consists that can be stored in the folder. I was able to run 900 to 1000 consists until recently when MSTS started acting up when I had 650 consists. I deleted the unused consists (using Route-Riter to determine which ones weren't needed) and that solved the problem.Ken

OK, I just ran Train Store (what a nifty utility, by the way - thanks for the suggestion).I first stored all routes except for the default routes, and MSTS loaded up perfectly! Then, I unstored all the non-default routes I have - EXCEPT for MP3.1 - and again MSTS loaded up just fine! I then unstored MP3.1 and MSTS did not load. So, MP3.1 is now back in storage. What is the next suggested step? Store all the non-default rolling stock and activities to use non-default rolling stock that I installed with the MP3.1 package? If I do that won't I have files just sitting on my harddrive forever that I cannot use?
Thanks to all for your help. This is a good forum in that someone does not get flamed for new questions.Hopefully, others can learn from my experiences as well.Kind Regards,
Mike C

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

Mike,Just a suggestion since it has been awhile since I installed MP3.1. I know that this route requires you to follow the installation instructions EXACTLY - there have been numerous posts in the past about this problem and 99% of the time they were related to the installation. I would delete MP31 again (if I remember correctly you can do this with Train Store) and then reinstall following the Read Me to the letter. I remember having problems myself and they were related to not following the install directions. Since everything else loads alright it has to be the route - since many others are running it without problem. After this I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.Ken

RE: MP 3.1 Problems

I believe I solved the problem and wanted to let all of you know in case anyone else has a simular problem.

I used Train Store to store MP3.1 and MSTS worked fine. When I unstored it, MSTS would not load again. Route Riter showed no problems with the route, as mentioned previously. I went back to Train Store and noticed just one activity was available, called "ITR_e1_s1_w1_t1" (Only 1 act was available, as I had uninstalled and reinstalled MP3.1) When I used Train Store to store this "ITR" act, everything worked - even MP3.1!!!

I then installed all activities that use only default equipment, again with no load problems.

I have not tried installing the acts which require non-default equipment. I do not know what is wrong with that one particular activity, but that seems to be what was causing the problems. It was luck that I stumbled across this idea, but I believe this problem is solved.

Thank-you all for your help. Thanks to baldwin for pointing out Train Store - this great piece of software is what helped me - plus I will keep it for future use. Maybe knowing this little bit of info might help someone else too. This seems like a great route! Can't wait to try it!Kind Regards,
