I know there are many posts on this about how MSTS fudged this, but I have a basic question about 'real time' recharging rates. Looking over several posts, it seems that the AAR rate for charging a single car to 80 psi (presumably from 0 psi) is 6 minutes. How is that time adjusted for multiple cars? What percentage increase would be expected for 10 cars?, 20 cars? 50 cars? It would seem hard to believe it would be a direct mutiplication. That would mean for every 10 cars, an hour would be needed. Also, if there is a good source on the WEB that gives this information links would be appreciated.
This data is not so easy to define, as environmental factors and the consist itself can have an affect on the specific time. Just be aware that a 100 car train is probably going to need more than 30 minutes to recharge. There are some ways that the process is mitigated in real railroading on some long freights, but these things can't be replicated in the simulator. It really is not that critical if the train takes 36 minutes or 41 minutes, just that it will not happen in 20 seconds. In other words, your operating practices will be much different in a train which recharges in the times mentioned as opposed to the few second recharge in the default files. Bob
