Anyone out there that knows how to setup MSTS so that the time compression feature works? I remember stumbling upon the instructions on how to setup the time compression ether on the forum, which I did a search for and came up with nothing. I kind of think I spotted the instructions on a website. I used this feature about a month or 2 ago to speed up time while testing some of the acts that I created. Stupid me I forgot to bookmark it or write the instructions down before I went and reformat my hard drive. I remember that you had to make a second copy of the Train.exe or something like that and go into the properties and type something in and then it would enable time compression "T" "shift T"I hope someone out there knows something about setting up the time compression feature because I don't want you guys to think I am nuts or I imagined the whole thing! Thanks in advanceMatt C

Add /timecompression to the target path on the shortcut. So, assuming a default install, it would be"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\train.exe" /timecompression
CTRL-T to speed up, CTRL-SHIFT-T to slow down.

Sometime, somewhere I saw a list of a variety of switches like the one mentioned above. I know there is one to do sound checks and/or run TS in a window instead of full screen. Does anyone know where one might see the full list of these command line options?

Oops, I just realized that the switch is actually /timeacceleration. I guess that's what I get for working from memory. As for references, try this link:

RE: Time Compression

Hi all,This works great, but how can you make it work if you are using raildriver. Since you start MSTS from the RD screen, it must not use the alias on the desktop that I modified (maybe it goes straight to train.exe to run. Is there a way to point RD to use this alias, or ????Thanks.Bryce

David.

RE: Time Compression

Hi,Thanks. I had not thought of that, but I'm using XP Pro which does not allow the alt-tab without crashing MSTS. I just accept that as normal, and I seem to remember from a previous post that it is a glitch with the OS.I'll keep tinkering, and try to figure out something.Bryce

RE: Time Compression

BryceJust a note for you. I have WinXP Home and also had the problem of not being able to ALT-TAB out of the sim for other work, then pop back in. Been like that for over a year. BUT..... somehow, that changed. Recently I tried it again, and WOW! It worked. I don't know the how or why, but dion't look a gift horse in the mouth. Go try it now on your computer and see if it has changed.Ted

RE: Time Compression

Maybe it was one of those magical Microsoft updates....I'm at work right now, but it will be the first thing I do when I get home.
