I have downloaded and installed Conrail Indy Route v2, and now I am trying to use some activities for it that I also downloaded. I have installed the 5 non-default files, and the activities from mirtz.zip and mirtu.zip, which seemed to be the latest versions, and all consists, paths, services, traffic, etc. that I could find from other downloads, whatever was newest. I have run the route, activities and consists through Route_Riter and get no errors. Everything works OK in explore mode, including the consists, but when I try one of these activities, I get the Send/Dont Send box and everything locks up. Naturally, no message about what the problem is. I have to reset to get things working again, use Route-Riter, still no errors, but the crashing continues. Can anyone guide me in the right direction to get all the right stuff installed? Any other known problems? Thanks in advance.-Al

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Well, I think I fixed it by deleting everything in the Paths, Activities, Services and Traffic folders and re-installing only the stuff from the mirtz.zip file. Seems the route needed only the newest stuff. I guessed what was latest by the dates on the Readme files. Judging by the comments in the readmes, I guess this problem was solved long ago. I like this route. I hope someone will create some switching activities for it.-Al

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

I am having the same problem with the send/don't send error message of death. I looked at the several Mirt... files and installed the last (Latest date) file but still have the same problem. Mirtz was the most recent and in the text indicated it repaired all of the previous errors. If I open Train Simulator Activity Editor and attempt to open one of the installed activities, (ex. Q-108.act) I get an error indicating that "Failed Opening Activity Header C:\ etc."I have no problems running the Explore route using any of the consists. I have checked MSTS using Conbuilder, Engine Mod, Route Control etc and come up with no errors.Could anyone else jump in and perhaps give me some help. Bruce Bridges did a great job on the Route and I had no problems with version 1.0. Bob Pickering also looks to have supplied some nice Activities. I'm just working hard to get this resolved.Mike Meyers (Rochester Mike)Happy Railroading

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Hi!This is the first I heard of this....Previous problems of that description usually turned out to be a problem in the route as in something missing, etc in the install. I am not saying that is the problem.Setting up acts was very challenging for this route as it does not like the unpacker. Can anyone else give me some updates on this, fixes or more details. Thanks!BobFlorida Railfan Page

Also make sure you got the mirf.zip too. That one was a fix for a problem with pathsBobFlorida Railfan Page

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

It is interesting that you spoke about not liking the unpacking. I found that when I first attempted to play the route, I came up with two errors in files not being there. The file "road4LaneT.ace was missing which contributed to the second *.s file looking as if it were not there. I installed the *.ace file and that seemed to take care of the errors other than the one which I currently speak of.I will go in and unzip Mirtf and install that file and attempt to run again. Still looking to get some resolution as I have seen much difficulty in getting this Route installed and anxious to run some of the additional activities.Happy Railroading

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Some additional information of my situation that may lead to fix...I checked with Route Riter and did find a few small errors in the Routes and they were resolved. It still wouldn't run any of the activities nor could I open any of the activities in Train Sim Activity Editor.I unzipped the Mirt.zip (Packed activity) file and when attempting to unpack them, is says I need to have a route called Conrail Indianapolis Line 2.0, UID ConrailIndyObviously, I do but is doesn't seem to recognize that I do. Should the unpacking of these routes work and is this an indication of where the problem lies? Or was a followup *.zip file build with unpacked activities for just this reason. Please Help!!Happy Railroading

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

As stated above, I unzipped and installed only mirtz. It contains all needed consists, traffic, paths, services and activities, which have to be manually moved into their respective folders after unzipping to a temp folder. Not hard to do with Explorer. First, delete everything that's already in those folders in the route (except for consists, of course, which is a different thing) and try again. I also had an error message about the road4laneT file, but it is in lots of other routes, so it was easy to copy over. As I recall it is needed in both the \textures and \textures\snow folders so make sure you copy it to both. When you do a file search for it you will see what folders it is in on the other routes, so put it in the same ones for ConrailIndy. One more thing, I had a problem after using Kosmos, so restore all the default environments before you try running the route. In other words, make the route plain vanilla with ONLY mirtz used, and see what happens. That's what I did and no problems so far. I haven't run all the activities yet, so I can't comment on whether mirtf is needed in the above configuration. I haven't tried changing anything with Kosmos yet, either, want to test all acts first. I will post more info if I encounter other issues. HTH-Al

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

If You recently installed the latest update that changed the .trk file check you .act files route id and change them to "ConrailIndy 2" (with quotes) so that it agrees with the route id in the .trk file. When the route was first issued the route id in the .trk file did not have quotes around it and the sim read it without the 2.Regards,Eric

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Thanks for the direction which resolved my problem. Actually, I renamed the "ConrailIndy 2.trk" file to "ConrailIndy.trk" which conformes to the rest of the files in the folder. I then went in with Wordpad and removed the "_2" from the route id in the quotes (in ConrailIndy.trk file) which now agrees with the route id's in each of the activities in the Mirtz.zip activities downloaded file.I ran one of the activities that wouldn't load last night and things look good. All the errors look to be gone after checking with Route Riter, Conbuilder, Engine Mod etc.Now off to play time. Thanks again for all the help in this aregards.Happy Railroading

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

So,if you install the (CRIND20A.zip) file it will correct the problems, and the activities (mirtz.zip)will run in the conrail indy v2.This all seems so confusing, thats why I've hesitated in installing these activities.

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Thanks for help in this regards, Bruce. If you install the activity fix, it will still have a problem with the Route ID's being mismatched. Follow my renaming routine with the .trk file in the ConrailIndy 2 folder. Then load the .trk file in to Wordpad and remove the "space 2" so the route id's agree from the .act files to the .trk file. You will also have to locate the Road4laneT.ace file in the newrds.zip and copy it to the textures and textures\snow folders as it is missing. Definately will cause an error.Run Route Riter as in my case it corrected automatically one or two additional errors so hopefully I'm good to go.Just wondering if anyone is working on some of the original activities that were associated with version 1.0 Buin, TV-6 etc. I know John Reagon did a few that seemed to work ok also.Looking forward to more.Happy Railroading

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Since I started this thread, I've been following it closely. Now I'm more confused than ever. All the activities I have (all from mirtz including paths, services, etc.) and Chris Bogley's (SVTS) CSX Z-train activity refer to Route ID ConrailIndy, no quotes, no space 2, and all I have tried seem to work fine that way. If I change them to Route ID "ConrailIndy 2" they crash the whole OS, even if I'm "lucky" enough to get S/DS. A reboot is required every time. The route is in a folder named, guess what, ConrailIndy 2. Just what does Route ID refer to in the activity files?
Am I helping or just clouding the issue here? -Al

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Hi Al,The route id is in the .trk file for the route. When version 2 of ConrailIndy was first issued the id ConrailIndy 2 in the .trk file did not have quotes around it. When the sim reads this it sees ConrailIndy because it stops reading when it gets to the space. This caused problems when someone wanted to have both versions of the route installed at the same time. It also caused the AE activity packager to fail when packaging an activity for version 2. To work the activity packager requires that the routes folder name and the id in the track file are exactly the same.Recently the author of the route issued a patch the among other things corrected the route id in the track file by adding the quotes. This caused activities already written for the version 2 fail because the activities had an id of ConrailIndy and the sim was now looking for ConrailIndy 2.If you install the patch you should edit the .act files so they have an id of ConrailIndy 2 with quotes around it.Hope this makes sense.Regards,Eric

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Thanks Eric..I liked the additional activities from version 1, but I uninstalled that version to accomodate the version 2. My solution was outlined in one of the above threads. Sorry to create confusion in Als situation. I was just trying to get past the crashes and get the Mirtz activities to run on my sim. I spoke with Bruce a while ago in regards to getting the original activites to run on the 2nd version and he offered me some suggestions to try but I haven't taken it any further yet.Quick question in this regards, I found errors after installing the version 2 in that "Road4LaneT.ace" file was missing. Is the version in the "Textures" folder the same as the version in the "Textures\Snow" folder? Has the same name and I found I had to install it in both folders to get by the crashes. Just wondering. I assumed it was because of same file name. Thanks for all the help from allRochester MikeHappy Railroading

RE: Conrail Indy v2 activities problem S/DS

Hi Mike,I found 219 copies of that file name on my system, only two of the routes had a different texture in the snow folder. Illinois Northern, which had one with tire tracks and Buffalo, which had a smooth snow texture. The rest used the same texture in both folders. The .ace file will have the same file name in both folders but doesn't have to be the same texture.Whether or not you will need to have a texture in the snow folder for a given shape is determined by the shape definition file (.sd) for the shape that uses that texture, specifically the "ESD_Alternative_Texture ( x )" line. The value for x determines where the sim will look for the texture it needs depending on the season etc.Regards,Eric
