Canadian (mostly CN) replacement screens - need your op – image 1

Hello, I've been a railfan in Winnipeg, Canada for about 10 month and made about 600 pictures, now that I've became an MSTS fan as well, I wanted to bring in most of that, so I decided to change the screens, you know the BNSF, Scots, Hisatsu ones and put in ones that I made in photography. I know that there are many in the download section, but I think more wouldn't hurt.
I'm done know and am wondering what do you think (suggestions, critisism, etc.) before I put it in the download. This goes instead of the tools & Editors one:

Sold, I would download. An Idea: For the part that says Microsoft Train Simulator, you may want to try a different font, one that's maybe closer to the original. The pics are excellent.

They look great and just to be different, I like the font you are using just don't make them quite so big. We all know what the game is. Hell, I wouldn't even put the name in there myself. But that is why I am different I guess. Nice job,TimWestern Maryland

On my little map (North End of Fort Rouge yards) green is a residential street, yellow continues right into the yard and my questionis is can you go on the blue section? There's a fence throughout between it and the yard, but it's still a good railfanning spot, is it ok to go on it? I took quite a bit pictures there, that VIA picture at the top for instance.

CPR_Malice_96th, I know my last questions are unreasonable, but could you make an attempt to answer them? Spring break is coming up and I'll try to be there at the station as much as I can.Now about the replacement screens. Sorry I took so long, but I was building my site and had lots of schoolwork to do.I've made it smaller, but couldn’t find the right font... so returned to Times New Roman. Which do you think is better?

Morning RussianThe first one is better. However the colour is still a little borong.I would reccomend maybe the colour needs to be changed more than anything. Now onto your questions. The fine last time I recall is up to and including $5000.00 FOR TRESSPASSING !!From your map ( I know exactly where you are talking about )I can't say for certain, but it looks OK.Now I don't rememeber the exact numbers, BUT the railway owns so many feet to the left and right sides of their track ( I am thinking 10ft )BUT ... If it is more and you meet up with CN Police who have had a bad day ..... Chances are you are going to get hasseled.NEXT !!Don't let anyone tell you ANY differentCN Police are REAL PoliceThey CAN and have every right to question youThey CAN and will chase youThey CAN arrest youThey CAN shoot you ( Yes they have 9mm weapons )Basically what I am getting at. If there was a " No Tresspassing " sign beside a 7-11 and Winnipeg Police were to question you about the " whys " of you being there. You'd stay and answer their questions.I hope that you'd do the same for CN Police.I am only stressing this point as I know in one of the other forums ( railpictures.net ... I think ) Anyways .. you stated you ran fromthem beforeBAD IDEACN Police for the most part understand railfanning ..... BUT guaranteed If you runAnd get caughtYou're getting the MAX fine available.Just for funs sake .... go up to your parents and tell then you need to borrow $5000.00 todaySee what their responces areHave a good week railfanning Russian .... Just keep it safeLater

adamb, thanks for the link, very usefull tutorial, but I think I've got that knowledge through trial and error and some forum help. As for the color, I was thinking of something differnt, with smaller writing.>From your map ( I know exactly where you are talking about
>I can't say for certain, but it looks OK.Thanks, I've seen CN crews and VIA people there, but they didn't approach me, so it's probably ok. Just cheking. >Now I don't rememeber the exact numbers, BUT the railway
>owns so many feet to the left and right sides of their track
>( I am thinking 10ft ) Intersting, so you could be standing too close to trains on the Portage JCT hill?>Chances are you are going to get
>hasseled. I know, had a few mean looks thrown at me, when I railfanned in one spot without moving 10 meters for 40 minutes (it was a busy day), so I moved on.>They CAN shoot you ( Yes they have 9mm weapons ) Now that's intersting! Don't get any wrong ideas, but have any railfans actually been shot while doing their hobby? Boy, now I understand while some railfans are armed - literally!>I am only stressing this point as I know in one of the other
>forums ( railpictures.net ... I think ) Anyways .. you
>stated you ran fromthem before That was CP, yes I'm from there, and have learned on my mistakes (at least I think I did).>CN Police for the most part understand railfanning True, they seem decent, hiding behind some MOW equipment while I take pictures!>Have a good week railfanning Russian .... Just keep it safe Thanks, will try to be out and about as much as I can next week.BTW, I've been to Fort Rouge often, at least once a week during summer, and sometimes 4 days a week... My point is, if they (security for the most part) see you so often, do they sort of get used to you, or are you a "potential threat" no matter how often you railfan there? Thanks for answering, nice talking to you. >The first one is better. However the colour is still a
>little borong. >I would reccomend maybe the colour needs to be changed more

Russian,
Mow truck not to worry, btw i'am not in the truck. Pizza Hut is a good location and you are pretty much safe there. The other blue dots i would say behind the Pembina Hotel is safe as well there is a sidewalk crossing there.
On top of the Pembina overpass would be safe as well, but not down on the dirt road. As far as the road between transit and via that's a no no, cn property. I have seen people get tickets there from cn police. Were not trying to rag on you just trying to save you a bunch of trouble. Yes i agree, people doing stupid things around trains, but those are the things that spoil it for everyone who wants to take pictures. Just be safe and watch were you step.
btw nice pictures.Later!

Thanks Gord, so basically its ok as long as I stay off the dirt roads? That's good enought for me, get enought action from public property, thak you for explaining that to me.>btw nice pictures. RE: Canadian (mostly CN) replacement screens - need you

Hi Russian,
Tim is correct about the heavy fines for tresspassing. Working at Fort Fouge from time to time i have seen CN police give some people $500.00 fines for carrying their bike over the tracks at Portage Jct which i think is the min fine. CN police are federal police like RCMP so they could give the city cops a ticket. As far as the gravel road at the north end of fort rouge close to via there is a sign as you turn in off Osborne cn no tresspassing. This road continues along the tracks to portage jct and beyond this is all cn property.
The big empty field on the west side of portage jct is also cn property, as well as the road behind Pizza Hut.
As far as the via people seeing you their property is fenced in,so it really no bother to them unless a via trainmaster sees you chances are he will be on the cell phone to cn police.
I know for a fact that cn police make their round at no set time so you might get lucky and not get bothered, but don't count on it.
The other thing you may not know there are seven camera that were installed last year and cn police can see you as well as everbody at Symington yard. I was working at fort rouge on night back in the 90's and a young boy tried crossing between the train and it stated to pull he lost a leg and we had to deal with that all night not a pretty site blood everywhere, guess he won't do that again!
I would't count on anymore pictures at portage jct unless you just won the lottery and you are feeling lucky.Later!
Gord

The Screens look nice, but for the text how about two different colours, either fade from one to another or have the Text outlined. Small things like that can make a large difference.
Interesting reading about the RR Police. One place that would probably be considered the riskiest of places I railfan, on the Dundas Sub near the Via station, has people walking across the tracks every few minutes. I think (hope) if there were police in the area that they'd bust the trespassers, and not the legit railfans.90% of the time when I see an engineer in the loco, he is waving. As long as you don't get any crews angry or worried, they probably will not radio in about you. I've even talked to some people at the Woodstock CP station and the Via station asking when certain trains were coming through and what I was doing. No one has asked me any questions. The lady at the Via station asked if I had a scanner or not, lol.
