Didn't have much luck by posting this topic on MSTS Locomotive Design forum, so I'll try here.I get the "Can't add car . . etc" message when trying to run MSTS with a locomotive I've "reversed" using SFM (Shape File Manager). Other reversed locomotives I've created seem to be OK.The locomotive in question is a P42, with 12399 polygons. Using SFV (Shape File Viwer), the original (unreversed) locomotive displays fine with no errors; and also runs fine in MSTS. The reversed locomotive displays in SFV but I get an error message "Error 9 - Subscript out of range" where the number of kujus should be shown.Anyone have any ideas what is going on here?Thank you.
Hi,The only reason, I can imagine that you have ruined the shape file by reversing with SFM. This error shows most of the time, when someone tries to load a new created model and something is wrong.Start again.Dick van den Hoven
Thanks Dick.I have tried several times to reverse the locomotive using SFM, but the reversed locomotive still generates that error message. Presumably SFM somehow corrupts the shape file for this particular locomotive. Other locomotives, so far, have reversed fine.In the meantime, I have given up trying to reverse this locomotive until someone can suggest a method (apart from working on original 3D files) of reversing locomotives without error.
Peter, I had this problem recently and it ended up being that I didn't have the updated newshape.bnf file in the UTILS/FFEDIT directory. Something to do with the model having animations (usually wipers), which your others reversed models probably didn't have. You can find the updated newshape.bnf file in the Shape File Manager download. Just extract that into your UTILS/FFEDIT directory and you should be good to go on reversing your models, or any other changes you make.Regards, Dan Zollner - 3DTrains/Facing Point Media http://www.3dtrains.com
Do you have the file name for the P24 in question and is it available in the trainsim library, I`ll download it if it is and have a good look at it. Re my earlier comment about reversing it in Conbuilder etc, I have successfully reversed most of my diesels and the bogies/wheels have behaved normally, cant say the same for any wagons I have tried though, when I have tried reversing wagons/passenger coaches etc the bogies and wheels do work in reverse like you said.
