Just started using the Bridge Route by MLT... Awesome... The rail sounds alone make it worth the purchase - sure beats the default !Question: Is there a way to easily copy the rail sounds from that route to another route ? What files would need to be edited ? Thanks... Scott

Hi Scott, I don't have MLT's route (yet) but assuming its sounds install as in any other route, it's just the ttype.dat file in the route's folder you are interested in, as the actual track sound clips and the associated .sms files are normally installed in the Global/Sounds folder.1) Open the ttype.dat of the Bridge Line with Wordpad to see how the .sms files it calls for are named, and check if they are indeed in the Global/Sounds folder.2) Check the ttype.dat file of the route you want to use the new sounds instead of the default ones. Here's the one from Marias Pass, for illustration:SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0t1t______10
TrackType ( "Default" "USATrack0In.sms" "USATrack0Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Concrete Supported" "USATrack1In.sms" "USATrack1Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Wood Supported" "USATrack2In.sms" "USATrack2Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "In Tunnel" "USATrack3In.sms" "USATrack3Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Steel Bridge" "USATrack4In.sms" "USATrack4Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Girder Bridge" "USATrack5In.sms" "USATrack5Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Under Bridge" "USATrack6In.sms" "USATrack6Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Concrete Bridge" "USATrack7In.sms" "USATrack7Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Crossing Platform" "USATrack8In.sms" "USATrack8Ex.sms" )
TrackType ( "Wooden Bridge" "USATrack9In.sms" "USATrack9Ex.sms" )If the ttype.dat by MLT includes the same sound region definitions ( "default", "Concrete Supported" ... "Wooden Bridge" ) you should not have any problems replacing the old ttype.dat with the one from MLT, because the route's .ws files in which all sound-related information is stored are referenced to the Sound Region Definition ("Default" etc.) only - that's what you have the ttype.dat for, after all. Hope I didn't confuse you with this little explanation. Of course, as always, back-up the old ttype.dat before trying out to run the route with MLT's. Hope that answers your question, and lets you enjoy the new sounds asap.Lukas a.k.a SwissieBtw & for the record: I use a pay-ware sound add-on providing track sounds on all of my routes, and have never had a problem swapping the original ttype.dat of a route with the payware track sounds...

RE: MLT Bridge Rail Sounds

Hey Swissie. Can you come to Chicago Heights, Il.? I'll buy dinner. Every time I try to type in new files, I get in mucho trouble. Your explanation of the procedure is clear, but too much for this novice. I realy enjoy the MLT Bridge line sounds, but need more experience. Would it be too much to ask if new routes could include (with permission) some of these most accurate sounds? The default sounds with MSTS are at best, a joke. Its amazing how far this sim has come.Dejoh

RE: MLT Bridge Rail Sounds

To use the Bridge Line Track sounds in other routes,
Copy the Bridge Line Sound Folder, ssource.dat, and ttype.dat from the Bridge Line and paste them into what ever route you want those sounds on.
Overwrite existing files,so back up before you do it.It's simple to do,all my installed routes use these sounds now.
