RE: petit arbre railroad

Loads of stock, but no route at present, unless it is stashed somewhere else on the web.Beer is not a matter of life and death. It is much more serious than that.

RE: petit arbre railroad

about Petit Arbre fictional line
Well, it seems that more people that I imagined are interested in the route.
So here are some informations and screenshots.2004, january, 17First, I'd like to tell you that my English isn't perfect. Sometimes, my wife helps me but today, I'm alone at home so... I ask you for indulgence! This document is for all the ones who have been trying to find the route and didn't manage to! ------------------------------------
First question :
Is it possible to download the route?NOT YET! But :
The route is finished.
I'm waiting for some last authorizations.
The route is being tested and prepared for uploading.
Please be patient, the route's coming soon!------------------------------------
So, why have I uploaded material for a fictional line which is not available yet?First, it was for me a test, to see if my zip files were correctly made and to see if people would find some interest in my repaints.
In fact, I thought that only a few people would download my files, because it was fictional repaints which correspond only to my fantasy...The other reason is that I have a slow internet connexion, and I need time to upload things, so I prefered to start already, in order not to have to upload everything at the same time. As I had two weeks holidays, I uploaded some files...But I learnt that some of you have been trying to find the route, and I really beg your pardon because you lost time and it was my fault...Let's do the following :
If you are interested in this route, drop me a line (jucache@yahoo.fr).
The day I upload it, You'll be informed by a short personal message.------------------------------------
what is the Petit Arbre line? It's about 680 km tracks, crossing desert, mountains and forest.
As you can see in the plan, there are various embranchments. The main line is the section Aabetur - Nienke - Pantoufle-la-Flûterie.The secondary lines are as the following :
Aabetur - Guagnew - Cabanon-Néry, Guagnew - Chwimpauree, Azul - Cabanon-Néry, Nienke - Guagnew : sections crossing high mountainsCastor-le-Moët - Pentecosta : accross the desertNienke - Baleias Brancas : ocean coast local lineGrattacul - La Cantonnette : local forest line for wood transport. The company is named Pentecosta Railway Road. It uses various diesel engine types, as F7, E8, Gp9, Gp38, SD40, Df11, ... and some steam engines.------------------------------------How was born the "Petit Arbre line"?Since I was able to think, I've always been creating fantastic worlds and creatures, and histories. I like painting, drawing and playing music, which allows me to express my creativity. When I was a boy, my brother and sister used to ask me to tell them stories, which of course increased my imagination capacity...
As a big train-fan, I of course created various fictional lines, with paintings and construction histories.
About ten years ago, I created a fictional line I named Pentecosta Railway Road. It was a sort of mythic island discovered by a Navigator... Driving a virtual train in one's own created country was not possible then. But today it is.. as a real beginner, I challenged myself to build a route with the Route Editor...It has been hard, but two years later, I'm finishing...
I hope you enjoy it!Julien Cachemaille

RE: petit arbre railroad

It will be very interesting to test. Just don't put it on the FRENCH FTP site for us American friends. That site downloads at LESS than 56k speed even on a broadband Connection. John

RE: petit arbre railroad

You certainly saw that there's already some rolling stock for the line available at the Train-sim download section. I hope it will be soon possible for you to run all this material in the appropriate landscape. Here are some information about this rolling stock. Some of the engines have appropriate cabview, but others are aliased to a default one. You can find on the download section excellent cabviews to replace the default one. Good explanations are given in the readme files on how to replace the old with the new one. Just take care that the front view corresponds to the locomotive paint scheme. (Or use TGAtool and a program such as Photoshop to modifiy the color of the nose). On other sites, you can find payware or freeware fantastic cabs.Sounds can be improved all the same. Purchase some add-on package, you won't regret it! There are lots of geniuses working for the trainsim community!About the Petit Arbre history, here are some particular informations. The first Pentecosta Railway Road livery was black and pink. During the seventies, it was replaced in blue and yellow. During the eighties, yellow circles were added and today, the rolling stock is gradually repainted in yellow. Here are some screeshots showing different liveries.

RE: petit arbre railroad

Here are some screenshots made by Karl Brunieau who tested the route (and liked it!). The two first screenshots show the included track texture, and the others the payware texture Sweethaven tracks, a very realistic one! You can see the Kosmos sky effects, too.
Many thanks to Karl for his help and advices!
