Aug-17-01, 10:22 PM (EST) "Using Joystick in MSTS : Solution !!!!" PLEASE reply to poll at the end.
One can remap button to control train but not the stick himself
so I wrote Joygame that allow you for exemple to brake with the stick and power up with your joystick's throttle:JOYGAME 1.0 (W98 NT W2000)
**************************
Joygame use low level driver (VXD) to send custom keyboard command while moving Joystick.
-Easy to install/use/configure.
-Can be used for ANY game (even for controlling window app)
-small, fast (no frame drop in MSTS)
-easy to share preset over the net (small size)
-if you provide a small image with the same name of your preset this one will be displayed in Joygame. (jpg gif or bmp)
-No shitware that can harm your computer: no DLL
nor files invading your computer's system.
Easy to configure preset: you can switch from your game to Joygame, set a key than back, try... ect ect.
Joygame continue to send key even minimized.here the "Edit" button panel: (key will be in your language)
click; press a key; Done !The downside: 14$ shareware
***************************
Writing VXD driver is a pain I should buy very expensive tool
and cannot afford paying the license just for fun.
So sorry Joygame will be 14$. But I must be sure that some
are interested to buy it otherwise I wont release it (sorry again but I really don't have money)POLL:
*****
-are you interested by such program ?
-will you buy Joygame 14$ ? (I don't need a promess here)

-willing to help the communityPlease write joy config & computer and experience.

Aug-17-01, 11:59 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Using Joystick in MSTS : Solution !!!! Beta Thread" I use my Saitek X35 + X36 USB Flight sim Hotas in Trainsim ! I have all comands on the sticks, on my trottle I have two variable knobs that I use for brake and trottle (works like a charm). So I doesn't need to use the joystick axes on my combo ! I can warmly recomend this Hotas combo for Trainsim. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-18-01, 01:27 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Using Joystick in MSTS : Solution !!!! Beta Thread" well... thanks for advice. You knob can send limited nbr of key ? (73 time decrease key to come from free brake to "75% maintened" in kiha31 for exemple)
Cause joygame make any joystick act like the real stick in the real train:
full stick up brake = free
full stick down brake are set.moving up/down set or release gradually. You can fast move stick full down and brake will never set to urgency (the 74nd key in kiha)
same for power there is 5 key to go from 0 to full power.
or you press your knob and stop just before urgency come ?
cause that I can do also with my FFB without Joygame. How much your joy ?

Aug-18-01, 11:07 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Using Joystick in MSTS : Solution !!!! Beta Thread" LAST EDITED ON Aug-18-01 AT 11:12 AM (EST)It stops just before emergency come, then I must center the knob and pull it again to get the emergency. I can also make banded commands with the knobs if I like, set the speed differently on the commands etc.. I haven't test all options yet, it's endless It feels very comfortable to use these sticks in trainsim. But your program looks great, and must be the best solution for normal joysticks i think.zoso. Aug-19-01, 07:43 AM (EST) 12. "RE: Using Joystick in MSTS : Solution !!!!" LAST EDITED ON Aug-19-01 AT 07:50 AM (EST)I don't think I would buy your product. I've got a Saitek joystick and even though I haven't done it yet, I feel there's enough programmability to get most of the functionality your software would offer. Since I've got a "free" means of accomplishing most of what you can, it is hard to justify your $14 price. But maybe enough others can justify it. Eeven 50 people would give you over $700.00...but then 500 people at $5.00 each would give you $2500). I do want to add that when someone justifies their selling price based on their own effort and expense instead of what they thing is the true worth of a product based on what it does...it tends to turn me away from the product.I do wish you the best of luck with your attempt at retailing this product...honest! And I am certain that you will pay the proper sales tax and report your earnings as income as you are required to by law. Right? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>it is hard to justify
>your $14 price. mhhh saytek give his product for free ? I want one Well I understand your point of view and agree: I don't have to apologie about selling my soft. But I claim about some indulgence while Joygame would be the first things I release that isn't free. (I gived the reason why)I program since 15 years make also 3d model for other game and released a lot of FREE material on the net. I think you make a mistake if you think that Joygame can make high income.you know .. warez, and guy that don't want to pay anythings on net. It's also funny to see that most of guy that yell on "M$"
Monopol go first to a warez site once they downloaded a new soft made by one guy or small company. For joygame I think it's a good product but really not the gold mine you describ and I will be very happy and surprised if the income are sufficient to even pay the VDX tool license. (I will call 20 selling a "great success")That's shareware world reality. As said my friend Ilan, creator of 3d Virtual sailor :
"utilities??? the hell with them, poor income 100% trouble.. never again"well once this said now it's time to take my rolls and return to my castle
Anyway Thanks for voting. I bet your message is a negative vote ? Dan Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-29-01, 02:29 PM (EST) 18. "RE: Using Joystick in MSTS : Solution !!!!" Joygame is presently in beta test the first shot showed that it
work without bug "right out of the box".
Joygame is 95% finished.BTW I will still need ONE beta tester that should have win2000
and a joystick with a lot of axe to push joygame in its limit
and to test the install setup while W2000 & NT will require a
slightly different setup than w9*.I recall that this beta tester will receive Joygame for free.Size will be less than 600-700ko. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
