Aug-16-01, 04:32 PM (EST) "SD90MAC Questions and Comments" I have just successfully uploaded the SD90MAC files, including the excellent new cabview files, and I've run a couple of trips. In one, I was coasting down a 1.2% grade near MP 1133, without brakes or dynamics and yet I had a virtually zero acceleration rate. (It's 1.2% on the BNSF track chart.) Hmmm? A couple of questions:Does UP has SD90MACs in the 8400 series? The units look like SD9043s, based on the lack of taper on the top middle of the long hood. I assume they are 6000 hp units, however. The accelerometer is great, but does the prototype read to 4 decimal places? OK if it does, but distracting if it doesn't. There is no useful information in the 3rd and 4th digits. And notice how the value bounces all over the place, which I suspect is due to a MSTS bug, not Ray's work. Are they any major compromises with the prototype? I'd just like to know, not as a criticism. The sound seems to cut in and out at times. Anyone have this experience, and if so, do you know why? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

He mention's in his readme file that his cab is a rough version from a photo from Al Krug's site. Take a look at that photo and compare. Some SD90MAC locomotives have a digital accelerometer which do not have any decimal places. Some SD90's have a round speed readout on the CRT with digital numbers in the middle. On those units the accelerometer is nothing but a pointer that moves around the readout to give the predicted speed in one minute. The info I have shows the SD9043AC numbered 8000 thru 8308. The SD90AC is numbered 8500 thru 8521. There are no locomotives numbered in the 8400's. So because no locomotives are numbered then it's possible that some are as the UP renumbering system is subject to change.

As I said before It is really hard to get a decent looking background with the 512 restriction of the ace utility.I also had to do alot of compromising to get everything to display. that is why it does not look exactly like the 90's panel.
