Aug-16-01, 03:41 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Chicago Elevated verision 0.6a uploaded - SEE ROUTE MAP HERE!" You can just delete the appropriate route folder right from Windows Explorer. There is no further uninstall process to be done. As for the Chicago Elevated Route, you can download and install 0.6a directly... there is no need to have a prior version installed. The updated 0.6a version is now available for download from http://msts.railserve.comThanks again Chris for this excellent route. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-16-01, 08:03 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Chicago Elevated verision 0.6a uploaded - SEE ROUTE MAP HERE!" Are you able to access the pages but then just not the download? If so, be sure you're not using a "download accelerator" program such as GetRight, FlashGet, etc. Use your web browser's built-in functionality and it should work just fine. Thanks. Aug-16-01, 08:27 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Chicago Elevated verision 0.6a uploaded - SEE ROUTE MAP HERE!" By the tracks on the left, if you mean the ones as you head eastbound from Harlem / Lake, the tracks that share the embankment with you? Those are ex- Chicago & North Western tracks, I placed them there just for accurate representation, the embanment used to have only C & NW tracks on it until 1964 when the C & NW allowed the CTA to elevate the Lake Street tracks there, prior to this, where the 'S' curve is west of Laramie the Lake Street 'L' returned to grade level running through the town of Oak Park, and used overhead trolley wire. Aug-17-01, 11:15 AM (EST) 13. "RE: Chicago Elevated verision 0.6a uploaded - SEE ROUTE MAP HERE!" I just DLed the v 0.6a from this site (train-sim.com) and am about to try it out. However, I have some questions on this rail line. Please forgive me if I might sound stupid, but I have never been to Chicago... 1. Regarding your route map, how long is the overall network in reality? Does your map already depict the full extent of the trackage, or will we see some new lines in the v 1.0 release?2. From what little I have seen about this route in reality, I gather it uses third-rail power supply. Am I right...?3. To our loco modelers: Anyone planning to do the matching train sets (especially the older ones, I have seen a few photos of them and like them especially much)????

Aug-17-01, 01:01 PM (EST) 14. "RE: Chicago Elevated verision 0.6a uploaded - SEE ROUTE MAP HERE!" To try and answer your questions:1. The actual system is somewhere close to 200 miles, though smaller than it's height in the 1950s. Version 1.0 will contain all the track possibly with the exception to the yards. I try to upload an update about every week to give people something new to drive. You can find a map of the entire system here: http://transitchicago.com/maps/rail/rail.html2.The majority of the system has been third rail since 1973 when the Eveanston line was converted as such. The only exception now being the Western portion of the Skokie Swift (Yellow line) which operates off an overhead pantagraph.3.As far as models I have asked for some on several occasions, and with the increase in poeple asking about them here I am hoping intrest will spark creating design. I have seen pictures however of KIHA 31 models skinned in CTA livery though I have warned against using the KIHA due to thier inability to navigate tight turns while in a string. I personally would like to see a CTA 1964 vintage series 2000 in thier original alpine white and mint green.Hope this helps!-Chris Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-17-01, 02:25 PM (EST) 15. "RE: Chicago Elevated verision 0.6a uploaded - SEE ROUTE MAP HERE!" Thanks for the info! You know, I like those passenger / urban commuter lines better than most of the freight lines, because with all those stations and lots of other traffic you actually get to DO something, unlike these freight runs where you're tooling along at a hot 30 mph for miles on end...Okay, I also like to do the occasional freight hitch, but I find the fast people-movers sexier ...!What I have seen on your route so far was already very convincing, though I'm sure it can only get better in the final version. Feel inspired !I find it especially remarkable how you managed to create those underground stations inside the tunnels. I guess that's as good as it can get with the too-limited means of TS, and will certainly pave the way for lots of new route developments.
A pure subway will probably be out of question for all times with this version of TS, but for limited below-ground runs it should be okay.
Perhaps somebody will also manage to create a few new "tunnel segments" including "underground stations" with much more three-dimensional depth beyond the tunnel walls which would enable route designers like you to include multiple-tracked, multiple-platform underground stations in future developments as well. I hope you'll be able to imagine what I have just tried to describe.
Personally I would very, very much like to see the Rhein-Main S-Bahn network in and around Frankfurt in Germany. It's the network I have grown up with, and though currently I don't actually go to Frankfurt very often (this will change when I'm starting off at the university in fall) I enjoy each and every trip I make. Inside Frankfurt much of the trackage is running below the ground, as are located many stations, that's what brought me to the idea of "larger", "roomier" underground rail stations. But to return to the Chicago Elevated, again, a big "well done" to you. There are still some elements to be smoothed out, of course, but I'm already looking forward to the day when the route, along with some fitting trainsets, will be available.Keep Rollin'...

I don't see any. They are sure there in the MS routes. Best regards and Thanks, Bob. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-17-01, 09:04 AM (EST) 12. "RE: Chicago Elevated verision 0.6a uploaded - SEE ROUTE MAP HERE!" Hi. The "moire effect" is the series of swirling lines that show up on the MS made track about 2/3 of the way above the bottom of the screen, in the approx. center. It also shows up on the engines and cars sometimes. I did not see any on your route. Best regards, Bob. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
