Aug-15-01, 10:23 PM (EST) "Trainsim Realism Test" This would be a great test of the train-sim loco physics. In only we had CSX and conrail coal cars...Okay, yesterday, a 162 car loaded CSX coal train pulled by 2 dash 9s and 2 SD40's pushing passed through my town after wating for a CSX mixed freight to pass. It was so long, the 4 grade crossings in my town ( which are at least a mile and a half apart were tied up for 20 min. Now if we could test this in the sim...Nick Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-15-01, 10:31 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Trainsim Realism Test" Where was this? on the B&A? or possibly west of Cumberland? Ive seen the same thing many times, you should see a Loaded Conrail coal train pass through Crecent PA with as many cars on the 1% grade, its great. Out in Ohio, near Willard yard where we go every year, NS frequently runs 250+ car empty hopper trains with 2 engines (!) Thats a sight to see, as is a 160 car coal train going through Silver Creek NY at speed Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-15-01, 11:04 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Trainsim Realism Test" This sighting was in Gaithersburg Maryland around noon. I really want to model this route for the sim. It slipts off the NEC a little ways out of Union station. But i can't find good info on it. Its really anoyying, I can't find a detailed map of a railroad line that runs so close to my house, I can hear trains going by all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1Nick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-16-01, 11:58 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Trainsim Realism Test" ANother good line to model would be the port road from Perryville Maryland to Harrisburg. Where it comes in in TS is called industrial siding 35. Its a very scenic route that the Pennsylvania built for frieght trains and a few passenger trains as a shorter way from Baltimore and Washington to the west. It was originally electrified because the line from Phili to Harrisburg was also, but the electrification is down now. Right NS operates it and it as I think about 9 trains each way, with at least one grain and coal train in that. There are at least two intermodals, and a few mixed frieghts. If anyone wanted more info i could easily get it. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Trainsim Realism Test" Well at least you can hear the trains, I got a line near me (in the UK) with coal trains every hour or so, the engines are from the US, but the horns are so RUBBISH - I hoped for a full US blast - like the MSTS GP38-2, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Real Pity.Anyway - good luck finding out whether it will work.Euston

Aug-16-01, 08:11 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Trainsim Realism Test" How long are the coal trains there? If I ever moved to England I would get bored because there are so fewer frieght trains and they are shorter.... but anywyas are the american engines English Welsch and Scottish EMDs? I think there called G80tcs or something cant remember. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
