RE: brackets??

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-03 AT 12:42 PM (EST)

EngMod gave me a 12 page list of problems in my trainset directory. When I went to edit the BOHbox3_e.wag, ConTEXT reported an error and deleted the file. Fortunately, I had a backup...I've been using Editor2 (unicode) for some time from http://netez.com/2xExplorer/ - it doesn't have as many features as ConTEXT, but it does have a good bracket checker (which I'd never used before this thread started - thanks, guys....) With Editor2, I found the bracket problem in the BOHbox3_e.wag file very easily by highlighting the opening bracket and pressing ctrl-B, which took me to the closing bracket - a )) typo at the end of a line. Once I removed the extra bracket, all was well in Buffalo, and the sun is even shining.... Tim Baldwin

RE: brackets??

How are you determining that you have bracket problems?
If you don't already, download EngMod from the file library, and use its bracket check function to give you a list of files with bracket problems.Derek

While probably not a neat as Derek's tool, when you select a bracket... the matching end bracket get's highlighted. Mismatches are easier to find... but it's still work...Seeing the WAG or ENG file colorized is kinda pleasing though...

RE: brackets??

Pete,My tool is not very neat, it just identifies the problem files. Then your tool (or other editor) has to be used on the file to identify the extra or missing bracket.Derek

RE: brackets??

Derek, I think the both work hand in hand, yours to identify the problem files and Pete's to find and fix the problem.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: brackets??

Hi and thanks to all who replied to my problem. special thank to kevin for pointing me in the right direction and pete for his program. once you find where the matching brackets should be. it is a lot easier to locate a missing one. to anyone who is looking for this type of utility i find conTEXT easier to use with pete's program. again thanks to all. RE: brackets??

I am confused, I just ran EngMod 2.0 and got the list of wag files that have bracket problems. What editor should I be using to correct the problems and where do you find it?

RE: brackets??

I have tried to search the file library for anything containing either jedit or conTEXT and come up with nothing. You have not told me where these tools are.
