Installing one of the "Downloads" probably screwed up your MSTS, you copying something into the wrong folders !?Never add anything to your machine or individual Software until AFTER BACKING-UP whatever.Making a mistake, all you have to do then is to RESTORE after having deleted the mess created by Install or Operator Errors !!Looks like you will have to go back to "Square One", REMOVING MSTS and DELETING ALL OF IT'S FOLDERS before re-installing, including the April 2002 Update, if it is not MSTS-1.2 you are re-installing.O t t oEdit-P.S.: Just noticed that you "lost" your MSTS CD ? Looks like you will have to buy another one unless you got a Back-Up of MSTS on your machine !!!

So is there any error message you get?

-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!-----
Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it.
Eh, where did my signature go?
Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it.
Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool!
It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet.
Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...

RE: HELP!

I don't know about that, why would it not be put back in the rack with the rest of the CD's? I try to keep mine in one place, considering my son and I share the computer, if I don't they get scattered all over the corner. And I know they do not have legs so it couldn't have walked out of the room.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: HELP!

Having had to put up with many Computing Clients over the years, Kev, you have no idea how careless and disorganised some can be where CDs, Hardware and Software manuals are concerned ! My major client had to spend serious money once not being able to prove that the WIN Software they were using was properly licensed, not being able to produce the original CDs nor Manuals with the "Certificate of Authenticity" on them, having had to purchase multiple copies again.

Some of my Family being Computing Professionals are not much better ! I am a "Capricorn", said to like having everything in it's place ! Yet I managed to misplace one of my Notebooks "Recovery CD" ! O t t o

RE: HELP!

Otto, I am not anal about it, the shelve with the CD's is a mess, but they are ALL on it. Manuals go into a drawer in the filing cabinet, some never to see the light of day again.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: HELP!

You've probably downloaded routes that require X-Tracks or the updated global tsection.dat file. My suggestion would be to install X-Tracks 3.7 before blowing away your MSTS installation. This will probably solve your problem....JBD

RE: HELP!

by the way, i have had this problem before and the only way to fix it was to reinstall. but my computer's cd-rom drive is the slowest in the world. to uninstall and reinstall would take a day!lest, that was with my old pentium 3 993mhz...Newbie, but I have to give praise to the great route and train builders! thanks to all who build routes and trains! especially to you tram and subway builders! RE: HELP!

Yes, no X-Tracks can be a problem for most of the add-on routes out there now....No route showing up means that you don't have any paths defined in the route. Check to see if the .pat files are in the PATHS folder or if any were even put in with the route. If not, you need to use Activity Editor to create paths. Only routes with at least one path defined will show up in the actual game....JBD

RE: HELP!

First thing to do is open Windows Explorer (NOT internet explorer), make a new folder named Backup. Then browse to \Train Simulator\Routes. Select all the folders in \Train Simulator\Routes except \Europe1, Europe2, Japan1, Japan2, USA1, USA2, and the tutorial route. Move all the add-on routes folders to the backup folder (click and drag, cut and paste, however you do it you don't want anything in the \Train Simulator\Routes folder except the six default routes and tutorial route). Now try to run trainsim and see if it will run with just the default routes. If it won't, then your problem is in a consist, try Conbuilder, Route Riter, or Route Control Lite (from the file library utilities section), run the error checkers from there. If that does work, then one of the add-on routes is the problem. Copy or move one add-on route from Backup to \Train Simulator\Routes, start the game, run that route. If no error messages, copy or move another route from Backup to \Train Simulator\Routes and try that one. When the error repeats, you've narrowed it down to which route is the problem.
