I have searched the forums extensively about this but did not find a solution.
My MakeAceWin.exe is the one from 09/03/2001, but I cannot create a .ace file from an 800x600 .tga file. I thought this version of makeacewin supported non-square images larger than 512x512.If I scrunch the .tga with my route's load screen down to 512x512 and create the load.ace I get a "Failed to setup loading screen" error.
Oddly enough I HAD a custom load.ace before this and was able to create it from a 800x600 .tga file. Really all I was doing was updating the build number.So... my question to the board: What type of .ace compression needs to be used for the load screen? Zlib? DXT? yes/no on the alpha channel? ... And if I'm creating from a TGA image, what should that be saved as(16, 32, or 48-bit)?
Thanks to all.
