Hi all. Well, I am back, this time with XP and I am having all kinds of problems. Here is my system: AMD Athlon 900, 256mb ram, 60 and 30gb drives, TB Santa Cruz sound card, Iwill KK266 m/b, Windows XP, DirectX 9.0b, ATI Radeon 8500le using CAT 3.7. Ok, I did not have this problem in either 98se or Win 2k. Whenever I load a route all the textures are flashing and distorted. I tried using the Troubleshooter, but no help. I guess I 'll try the new CAT 3.8 drivers that were just released, but I don't expect much. Anybody else experiencing this problem and do you have any tips? Thanks Jeff

RE: Flickering textures problem?...

Jeff,
Have you tried using Windows DirectX Diagnostic program:
Start > Run > type "dxdiag" > Enter Also, check to see what else is running on the system. Good luck.

RE: Flickering textures problem?...

When I had an ATI-8500LE I too had a few problems with MSTS, but that was on my WIN-98SE machine using DirectX-8, eventually fixed with suitable for MSTS ATI Drivers. Not sure how MSTS should perform using this card with DirectX-9b ? Other programs running O.K.? Installing MSTS onto a WIN-XP does not update it to the latest in Graphics Technology it has not been coded for. Have a look at the ATI Web Site for answers. No doubt sooner or later other WIN-XP / ATI-8500LE users will chip in ?O t t o

RE: Flickering textures problem?...

Thanks for suggestions. Yes, I have run 'dxdiag' and everything is fine, except when I run the first direct3d test, the cube flickers as well, however the next two tests don't. I have tried several different agp aperature size settings without effect. I have also tried 4x and 2x agp. I am just about to go back to win 2k, if I could only find my cd. I don't play too many games, so I can't really give any reference besides MSTS. Any more suggestions?Jeff

Use Google to find MS knowledge base articles on: "DirectX"+"9.0b". They may have already identified this as a problem.
