I was wondering if there was a way in explore route to have cars sitting in the yards on say the D&H route. Also is there a way to put have other trains on the tracks as well?
RyanYou can't do this in Explore, but you can do it by building an activity. You need to build an activity, to "plant" rolling stock onto various tracks and then create AI (artificial intelligence) trains running while you run your train. It's a little tough to learn, because of not so great documentation, but there are guides to help you and it's easy once you do learn how to build an activity. Check out the activity editor that came with the game - and read all the "help" files you can find. Go to the activity forum and read all the questions and answers. Come up with your own questions, and do a search for the answers on this forum. If you can't find the answer, then ask how. Then you can build the activity and do what you want!It takes a little time to learn - hopefully time you'll enjoy.Mark A Southern Railway Fan
I believe you can, if you use the cars as scenic objects, but you couldn't couple to them. there was a group of cars uploaded to the library a few weeks ago for just that purpose as I recall...Tim Baldwin Buffalo NY
You're right! Didn't think of that - but it's easier to make an activity consist for some of us - just click on the place you want to plant the cars and specify what you want to put there!Mark A Southern Railway Fan
The PO&N has activities written for this route. I think they are called push me/pull me or something like that. This is a very popular route, download it and look at the activities as an example.
All of the activities on PO&N are "open ended" activities. There is no schedule, no penalties, no failures. Each activity starts you out with a single loco. There are other locos and "live" rolling stock scattered around the route. This allows you to do what you are asking. However, it is not explore mode. The only cars you can work with in explore mode are the ones in the consist you are driving.Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, OR (My email is in my profile)Columbia Gorge Route (Phase 1 UP side 95%, BNSF side 90%)
I didn't say that was the way that I would do it only that it was possible. there are open ended activities included with the payware Canton and Sweethaven Harbor routes as well. It's a great way to familiarize yourself with an unfamiliar route...Tim Baldwin Buffalo NY
