I am trying to make some gobal changes using EngMod 5.1 and I keep getting an error message that causes me to be kicked out of the program. The message reads: "Run time error '70': permission denied". Any thoughts on what is happening and how to get around it? Thanks for any help.

RE: Problem with EngMod

This is caused by read only eng or wag files. Older Autoracks are mostly read only, but their probably are others.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Problem with EngMod

Kevin, Thanks, so I now have to go through all my trainset files and check there attributes to see if its set to 'read only'. God what a PIA.

RE: Problem with EngMod

Good deal Derek.Sharon, you don't have to do that. right click on the trainset folder and then you should be able to reset from read only to all the files in that folder, I did that and it worked ok in XP. I'll check tonight and let you know how I did it.Kevin Arceneaux

RE: Problem with EngMod

Hi Kevin and Sharon,I will have to test for read only and put in some code to either reset the read only attribute or notify the user of the problem. The other problem I have seen is when someone has tried to edit an eng file and saved it back as ascii rather than utf16 (unicode).I am currently making changes to EngMod to apply Bob Boudoin's physics V4.5 to a range of files. I am in early alpha testing at the moment.Derek

RE: Problem with EngMod

Derek, Thanks for the suggestions. I was trying to use an average value from Bob's v4.5 to do the reset of the values. As you know he has slightly different values depending on the type of car, as he should. EngMod, as currently set, won't let you easily specify different cars for different values of modifications. If you want me to run the beta on my files let me know, glad to help with such a great utility.Kevin, Now that you mention that gobal change, I remember it. Will wait for Derek so if he wants me to test his utilities ability to do it.

>won't let you easily specify different cars for different values of modifications.I assume you are changing the Break values here? or are you trying to apply all of Bob's values?>If you want me to run the beta on my files let me know, glad to help with such a great utility. Thanks, but at the moment it far too dangerous to let loose.I am finding problems with the default files which I think will compromise Bob's settings, so I have sent emails to Bob asking for direction.
If I am going to install Bob's settings then they have to be 100% or I don't think its worth doing.
Once I get some idea of Bob's feelings I can proceed, this may take some time.In the short term, I am trying to change the error 70 message to give the file name.Derek
