I dont know wether I am looking crooked or what, however in the file library is the following file "MSTS DL500S (FPD7) Renfe 1809 Traccion", and this unit looks remarkably like the above named Aussie streamliner. Is there anyone out there who can confirm this, as if they are the same, they would be excellent for a reskin. I havent seen any 930 class in the file library unless someone can point me to one.Kind regards
Locoman

RE: Australian ANR 930 class

Locoman -You are indeed correct. It is the Alco "World Series" locomotives, used by many railroad companies around the world. The SAR 830 class was also an Alco world-wide product. As far as I am aware, there is no 930 available for MSTS. I'd love one too, if someone could re-skin it.Phil

>Phil Now, that b rings to mind something that has long puzzled me... namely being the fact that although Trainz produced the first model of the NSW 44 Class loco, I STILL haven't seen an MSTS version of it out after all this time. I recall writing to someone recently, but can't quite remember who it was... possibly someone who put out the models of the 48 Class on Train-Sim.com - and asking about a 44 Class model, but so far have had no reply at all.I would love to see an MSTS model of a group of 44s like the 48s and 49s etc. But why is one so slow forthcoming, or has Auran copyrighted the 44 models totally ? Some sort of answer would be really welcome. I've ridden behind many of the 44 Class between 1981 and 1991, and would love to have an MSTS model to drive !While I think of it, that Spanish m odel of the Alco World Series loco like a 44 or 930, has a rather "OK" cabview, but I feel that the driver is seated a bit too low to be able to see the track ahead clearly enough, and the "driver's seat" view could be raised a little to make it easier to drive. Just my 2c worth here.Regards...Jim McDermott

Quote:- But why is one so slow forthcoming, or has Auran copyrighted the 44 models totally ?No, they aren't copyrighted, Jim.I too have wondered why nobody is interested in the 44 or the 43 Classes and, in particular for me as I lived in the Blue Mts. for a decade and thrived on these things, the electric Class 46. I'd give my right arm for a nice model of the 46 to run on the Blue Mts. route.Although I have contacted a couple of Aussie modellers, nobody seems to be interested in those locomotives, yet they were as much a part of the NSWGR as the Class 42! Gawd - I used to travel in the North Coast Daylight Express and the North Coast Mail in the 1960's, hauled by brand-spanking new models of the 44 and 43. Yet I can't get a Train Sim model of either!Regards,
Bruce.

RE: Australian ANR 930 class

Vulcan -That is EXCELLENT news about the 930/44 class locomotives. I will really look forward to them.I have made some minor medications to the Alco S4 common sound package that adds an air compressor (it activates when the brakes are released and also at random intervals) and a "clickity-clack" jointed track sound. It's much more realistic than any of the default MSTS sounds for any Alco 4-stroke loco.Would this be of interest to you or the team doing the 930 ?Phil

>http://www.railpage.org.au/vr/msts/ Whoops... I also forgot to mention the lovely, smooth-riding Rolls Royce of NSW Diesels - the Clyde/General Motors 422 Class !! Smooth as a baby's bum at 100 km/h !! I oughta know. I rode over 70 miles in the cab of 42203 from Kiama to the stop blocks at Sydney Terminal one evening. This was just before the electrification of the Illawarra Line was completed, and I can honestly say that from a cab perspective, the poles either side of the track, at night mainly, but also in the daylight, made it look as though you were inside a tunnel of sorts. It was better in the old days... this was 1984.The other enjoyable ride was from Unanderra to Moss Vale over the Illawarra Mountain Railway... Saturday afternoon passenger run from Sydney, with 42207 on the head-end... and got the XPT back from Moss Vale. 40 km/h up the eastern side of the mountain to Summit Tank - observer ate his cheese & onion sangers in the cab while the driver had his tucker in the signal box... the cab reeked of onions for ages... off again after crib, and down the western side of the mountain, and hit 110 km/h before the middle of the dip by a level crossing. These reasons are why I'd also love to see a model of a 422 Class put out... as accurately as possible.yes, it would also be great seeing a 43 and a 40 maybe. Hope they're getting the 44 out real soon. The 45s were brutes and looked larger than the 44s did, but were of the same 1800 HP rating as you'd know... but would anyone have a hankering to see a 45 put out, maybe ? But most definitely, I'd love to see a 46 Class put out as well... maybe not 4620 though... the Granville disaster loco. Might be bad luck, who knows ? I'll never forget how smartly a 46 Class took the 6 cars of the 2:05 pm afternoon train back on 12th February, 1981, around the curves between Lapstone and Katoomba, on the 1 in 33 grades, if they were around that steep. I'm through dreaming about the past now, so thanks for listening Anymore trips down memory lane ?Regards...Jim McDermott

Thanks for the feed back fellas, yes I too can vouch for Yuri's site as I sneaked in last night and gave myself a present of those fantastic EL models, both AN and CFCLA, plus of course another EL in our file library here on train-sim, and this is also excellent. The other 2 locos from the apple isle are also bloody fantastic, however I was a little dissapointed with the "cabview". A dash 9 cabview on a hood style Loco was a bit of a shock, however if you operate it in view 2, i dont seem to worry about it. I did try to alias a gp7 cab however it didnt work, so any ideas on this one would be great.Well done peopleLocoman

Yes well, when my petition for the 48 hour day gets processed then I will get time to finish it. The authentic cabview will be released when I have it done and when I get time. An alias to the GP7 cab should work, see this link for aliasing cabs.

RE: Australian ANR 930 class

Bruce I started on a 46 class a while back but have been busy lately with my about to be released route. I have quite detailed plans and pics of the 46. But it is a long way from being finished. I too would like to see one as I spent many hours behind one. I must find more hours in the day. Cheers
Paul

RE: Australian ANR 930 class

Well, in that case, Paul, I'll be happy to wait patiently, knowing that one day the 46 will make an appearance. In the meantime I have adopted the RENFE 276 as a reasonable substitute for the NSWGR 46 on my Blue Mountains line. Now, if only I could replicate the incessant screeching of massed brake-shoes against steel wheels, together with the roar of the resistor fans associated with regenerative braking from the three locomotives, as a laden coal train makes its way slowly downhill from Faulconbridge at 10:30 PM on a calm and otherwise silent winter's night. I've stood on Springwood platform some nights and listened to these trains approach from, I am quite sure, as far away as Lawson! BruceRegards,
Bruce.

RE: Australian ANR 930 class

I can't give you the sounds Bruce (sigh - I'm big on audio) but here is an glimpse of my 3D model both in the rough and a REAL rough texture to give it some reality. I reckon I might just get stuck back in to it and see if I can finish it I used to often catch a train hauled by the old girl to uni from Blacktown to Central and if slow enough through Redfern, jump off to save catching a bus back from Central... how stupid we are in the youthful years !!! I can still hear the poor old Redfern station master screaming as we ran away...

RE: Australian ANR 930 class

Aaah! That's looking fabulous, Paul!
Now you have me well and truly by the short and curlies!!
I really think that you need to finish it as a priority. That train you caught to uni...that wouldn't have been the morning "Summit", would it? The one which struck the Bold St. bridge?
I used to catch that train occasionally if running very late in the mornings. It was the last commuter train which would get me to the office (Wentworth Ave.) at a reasonable hour.Regards,
Bruce.
