I have noticed lately, the large quantity of "Flame" wars in progress. It seems as if practically any thread on almost any subject is always on the verge of exploding. I started a new thread because I do not want to give even a clue as to what side of any issue I may favor. I just want to extend my $0.02 worth as lots of members say.For the first 68 years of my life, I had memberships in Garden clubs, Model Railroad clubs, Amateur Radio clubs and other Social groups. Every organization always had the individuals that were on ego trips. There was always the 'We' and 'They' factions the same as they exist here. Maybe if Nels created the additional two forums, flame wars might cool down on the site. Most organizations seemed to shun the younger folks. When you cannot see a person who makes a post, you usually can't determine whether he is a gold plated jerk or a legitimate young person entering the college of hard knocks. When I see some of the posts where the spelling and choice of words are hideous, I say to myself, "Is this a true idiot or a foreigner doing much better at English than I could ever do in his language".When I reflect on some of these issues, I realize that at this point in my life, I seldom meet new people, just new names!

RE: Flame Wars:

I think that the OP just wanted to get his opinion accross.
I would rather let it be.I would lock it anyway to stop what may happenDerek

RE: Flame Wars:

I hope not! "When I reflect on some of these issues, I realize that at this point in my life, I seldom meet new people, just new names!Amen to that, Ken."Please keep in mind that poor communication skills do not mean that a person is an idiot, regardless of their native language."Amen to that too, Rob.I dunno', I've been around this forum for nigh onto 2 years (and then some, maybe). I've watched a lot of members come and go. Disputes, flame wars, silly triviality, mis-understanding a post.Ah! Mis-understanding a post.Yep! Sure 'nuff, we got language barriers. This is a world wide forum. Sometimes, with a little head scratchin', you can make out the folks that are trying to communicate in a foreign language-IE: English (to them). At times though, you come across a post that doesn't make much sense. Kinda' like chicken scratchin'. Welp, there, too, with a little cipherin', you can figure out the poster doesn't have the ability to communicate in the accepted terms.Does that make him an "Idiot"? Let's see:Flame Wars – image 2I'm gonna' leave it to ya'll to decide.Personally, I get a little aggravated-at times-with the lack of attempt to improve one's posting etiquette, but then-Who are we to judge? Are they "Idiots", or just "One's own"? Hawk "First thing I remember knowin', was that lonesome whistle blowin'-And a yungun's dream of growing up to ride-
On a freight train leavin' town, not knowin' where I'm bound.
No-one could steer me right-But Mama tried."
