Aug-13-01, 09:35 AM (EST) "Names in eng, wag, act files - database errors?" Hi Folks,Many of the database error messages occur because an activity or consist is looking for an eng or wag file with a certain name and can not find it. Similarly, the folder name seems to be important as well as the .s, .sd, and end/wag files. Can someone explain which lines within the s, sd, and eng/wag files must match an activity or consist? In other words, I don't know which lines to look for within these files to check the names that it wants. Same thing with knowing what folder name it wants.I don't have the concept here so all information on what to look for would be appreciated. By the way, I am using MSTS Buddy which lets you edit these files and then Check an activity or consist prior to opening MSTS. This is a great troubleshooting avoidance tool but I am not sure what to look for when editing the files. Thanks a lot,bob Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Names are touchy. In the consist, the first name is the engine or wagon, and the second is the folder name.Activities reference the car names in the same manner.'sd' files point to the like named 's' file. The engine or wagon needs a 'sd' and 's' file named the same as it is. What the name is doesn't much matter, as long as all the places that name appears are all in agreement with each other about what the name is and the Trainset folder to look in.Edit away!
