Can you explore the route without problems???Can you explore the route with the rolling stock used in the activities without problems???Koz(Edit: I had a pre-release of Blue Mountains 3 and if I recall correctly I had stuff missing that wasn't mentioned - changing in ConBuilder was possible but the activities weren't much anyway. If you want a good activity for Blue Mountains 3, grab the "West Coast R711" activity from the file library.)

The number one reason that activities won't work when explore does work is the fact that you probably don't have all the engines and rolling stock installed locally that the activity is calling out for.Keep in mind that just "installing" stuff doesn't mean that it will work. Some engines and rolling stock require extra steps after installation before they work properly or else you get send/don't send. You migght need to review some of the readme's that came with the new installs.Pete Willard

>dose anyone know whats wrong? Yes, whilst the route has been bundled with several Activities, it does not include the Locomotives/Rolling Stock for those Activities. However, it does include a Read Me file in the Route's root directory and below is an extract from that file..............=====================================================
Four Activities are installed with this route. To use them, you will require
the consists which are contained in the file BM3_Consists.zip which is in
the root folder of the Blue_Mountains3 route. The rolling stock required is
listed below, I think all these items are available on eitherhttp://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/
and/or
http://www.train-sim.comConsists used:-
-------------
AU 44233 wheat frieght set.con
AU Tangara 8 car set.con

==========================================This should help you on your way. Regards,
Bruce.
P.S.
I would suggest NOT unpacking the zipped Consists file until you have obtained the required 'stock.
Get the assets first, install them, and then unzip the Consists.
In the meantime, only use the Explore mode so as to avoid any error messages popping up.Cheers!
BK

RE: blue mountains 3 help

I have had a few emails complaining about the route not working, this has in all cases been due to lack of rolling stock, or due to some of the rolling stock being saved to folders with different folder names to the ones I have used in the consists, which is why I included a read-me listing the rolling stock required and which folder it should be in.I also left some .srv files in the Services folder in error, namely
42pass.srv
coal ex newnes.srv
container freight-Lithgow Yard.srv
empty to Newnes coal.srv
Mt Vic-Pen Vset.srv
NR WB Freight.srv
Tangara to Springwood.srv
Vset to Katoomba.srv
Vset to Lithgow.srv
Vset to Mt Victoria.srvThese should not cause a problem, but if you check the route with Route Control it will report missing rolling stock for these services. They are not used in the activities supplied, but RC still gives error messages about them, so it is better if they are removed. The Blue_Mountains3 route has not yet been uploaded to train-sim.com however it should be here soon, I have been given a set of 'distant mountain' tiles suitable for it, and will upload the route here soon when they are in place.

RE: blue mountains 3 help

Hi Bruce,I am trying to make a small patch just to copy over those files which will need changed, only about 2 megs. Will be a few days though, no change to tracks so the activities etc should be no problem.Mike

Thanks for that, Mike.
I assume that it will be available from Steam4Me?Bruce.P.S.
Incidentally, I'm in the throes of creating an (at least one) Activity which includes the morning Summit, Fish and Chips, with the player driving a coal train from Lithgow. Set in the 1980's, obviously, as that was when I lived at Springwood. If all goes well I'll do a few more, including the evening return journey's for the Fish & Chips. Now all we need is for someone to create a Class 46 electric!Bruce.

RE: blue mountains 3 help

Yes Bruce,I used to travel on those trais to Glenbrook in the 1980s. Someone did start to build a class 46, but I have not heard anything for a long time. It is difficult to even find some photos, never mind plans for said class.Mike

RE: blue mountains 3 help

Oh, the plans are no problem, Mike.
They are readily available, and there's quite a few (external) photographs of the 46's on the web.The data is there....but the desire of a good modeler to do anything with it needs to be aroused! Bruce.

RE: blue mountains 3 help

See my other post regarding the 46 in the ANR 930 post - the ARHS have recently put out a darn good book on the 46 of which I have a copy. Good pics & some plans.

Yes, soon. Looks a fairly simple task to create the installer to upgrade Ver 3 to Ver 3.1.RegardsYuri.
