I ordered this route and though the route itself is just so well done and detailed, it's the locomotives and rolling stock that are a disappointment. What I mean is for a pay route I would have thought these would have been more detailed, the stuff looks like the early TrainSim stuff. I'm sorry I know alot of work went into doing this route, but it just doesn't seem right when there is such fine freeware things out there. I have several Maple Leaf Tracks routes and the locos and cars and much better. I will order from 3D Train Stuff again, I just hope the equipment gets better.Mike

Did you hear? There's an expansion pack called Espee over Tehachapi Pass. There are a gew GP60's in quite a few different paint schemes, as well as more rolling stock and activities.

3DTS uses a different program for thier models than others. I think that some of thier stuff is really sweet, while some other stuff sits in the yard. The same can be said for MLT stuff, and freeware. Some os great, most is pretty good, and some are better left "in the roundhouse".Another thing you have to keep in mind, is it was not a easy task to put together a large stable of rolling stock like you saw in Cajon, becasue the two routes are so closely the same, and use the same equipment.Just my nickels worth.Chris Bogley

>Mike I appreciate how you feel Mike, but from my perspective, the $29.95 paid for the ROute, which as you said id top notch. A for the equipment, I consider that a bonus so lees concerned with it given all there is to choose from in the File Library, and from other Payware providers who specialize in motive power and rolling stock. LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-03 AT 08:37 PM (EDT)

I can see where Mike is comming from. I only have Cajon but it is a FANTASTIC route and the rolling stock is good but the SD70M/SD75's 3D model, compared to other payware locos, could be greatly improved. The sounds and cab are top-notch however I would buy from 3DTS again, definatly, but hopefully they can have a look at the SDs Adam

RE: Tehachapi Pass Route II

I think their equipment is just fine, however, my system can handle 1024k resolution graphics easily without too much frame rate loss. I changed all the 3DTS stock to 1024k resolution. Much more detailed in my opinion. But like I said, my system can handle it OK.Kip

RE: Tehachapi Pass Route II

I think he meant that the quality of the locomotives in TPII is inferior to the quality of the locos in other payware add-onsI may be mistaken of course

RE: Tehachapi Pass Route II

Thanks for all the feedback on this. Like I said the route is great, the equipment could be better. Yes, you pay for the route, but I also don't have much in the way of western RR stuff so I needed the equipment that came with the package to be able to run it, I would have to send hours downloading them. I'm not beating the company up for this, hey I just ordered the add on package, just maybe they will look into this for the next route.Mike

RE: Tehachapi Pass Route II

Speaking of the "next route", Donner in and of itself, should be excellent. I just got back from a vacation at Lake Tahoe, which is about 20 minutes from the area, and after railfanning the Pass for a week and a half, I'm really looking forward to this one!
