Is anyone running Train Sim with Windows 2000? I'm having a lot of sound problems and the cause appears to be the drivers, as the newest are over 2 years old. So if anyone is running ts with win 2000 please let me know, last time I tried with win 2000 it won't work. Thanks

I'm running Win 2K and it's been great. I've got a Sound Blaster Live audio card in a machine with a 900Mhz Athlon processor (not the zippiest of machines by today's standards). Friends who come over always marvel at the quality of the sound in MSTS, and the realism it adds.Have you run dxdiag?

I've played with every little setting in the dxdiag nothing seems to help.I'm running a P3 933 Intel, Soundblaster Audigy Gamer, Radeon 7500 with 512 in ram.

RE: Operating System Question

I'm running win2K on a DFI LanParty II Ultra, XP2400+, 512mb PC3200, ATI Radeon 8500 128mb, WD 80gb 7200rpm. I was using a CL Audigy, but changed to the on-board sound (AC'97) and was extremely pleased with the results! The external view sounds rock - as the train approaches (view 4) you get the higher sounds of fans, etc first and then the deaper sounds kick in as it gets closer. Watching 2 or 3 SD40s blow buy at 30-40 mph actually shakes the seat!

Have you checked your sound setting in MSTS? Sometimes this gets overlooked...

Yeah I've been all threw the settings. When I change to a exterior view to watch my train pass and go back in the cab i lose sounds, not all them most of the time though, but i won't hear the sound of the engine or the bell or the horn or all the above.

Operating System Question – image 5

I am running Win 2000 Pro on an AMD Duron 1.3 gig with 1 gig of ram and an ECS K7SEM motherboard with ON-BOARD sound and MSTS runs great and I don't have any sound problems...My onboard sound uses SIS pci audio drivers...My reccomendation would be to go to the website of whoever made your sound card and download the latest drivers...There is no reason that MSTS shouldn't run under Win 2000. You might also download Directx 9.1 for Win 2000 available from Microsoft's website.

Problem is I have the newest drivers. It appears Creative is no longer supporting win98se with my soundcard. The newest drivers are over 2 years old.

RE: Operating System Question

Are you getting this on all of your engines, such as the default ones? I'm asking because this sounds like an SMS file problem.
