Conrail MT-6 Slug ENG or WAG? – image 1

Evening, folks. I'm poking about with the TKW CR MT-6 slug 1103, and I'm looking for a way to convert the thing into a true powered unit, as opposed to merely a freight wagon. I'm inclined to start copying out of the PO&N slug that came with the 1950s activity pack, but before I do that, does anyone have any better ideas? Thanks.

Further potentially useful information: CR MT-6 1103 was created from an ex-PRR/PC RSD-12, so that may be of some use in determining my course, but I'm still not sure what to do with it.

Oh, for pete's sake; I got the two Conrail slugs confused. The TKW is a former RS-11, not an RSD-12.

Good question! In real life a 'wagon' is just pulled along, an engine does the pulling. Very simple in terms I agree. These slugs have their own traction motors, but don't have their own power supply, ie a diesel engine. I would class them as engines though.Mike

Right, right. I agree completely; now it's a matter of accurate implementation. There are several NS slugs with ENG files, so I need to figure out what an ENG for these two CR slugs would look like. Y'know, wanting to be realistic and all.

A Conrail slug for MSTS???? Where did you get it? I've gotta have it!FWIW, CR 1103 was converted from an RSD-12, #6864. A former Pennsy unit...Does anyone have an SD38 to go with the slug?

There's two of 'em, both hidden away in the file library. Look for tkw_mate.zip and crslug.zip when you take a notion. Unfortunately, there are no SD38s in Conrail livery that I'm aware of.Anyone know different?

Ah! There you have it. If a freeware solution was sought, there's an SD38 in the library, and as luck would have it, it's Grand Trunk and therefore almost all blue to begin with.
