Ok folks,Further to my earlier posting on the "new views" find (copy enclosed), BNSF mentioned that he was able to click the right mouse button and hold it down (while using views 2 or 3), and was then able to pan around. I checked this out and it worked a treat!! - provided I used the Ctrl, Alt, 9 buttons. The right mouse button, combined with the arrow keys, gives amazing flexibility and infinite view options. I was even able to view the Rocket whizzing past me upside down at one point! Also, wait for it: ..the 'right mouse button' trick works in view 4 as well! ...as long as you activate the Ctrl, Alt 9 keys.
Its great watching a train thunder by, and be able to track it yourself via the mouse ...or for that matter, look around you in any direction.Try it out. (I'd appreciate any feedback on this one). Thanks for this find, BNSF, Tin===
Wow! New view angles!!!
(posted earlier)I read something on a forum recently about using the Ctrl, Shift and 9 keys to change view in "fly-by" mode (ie, key 4 view). It didnt work for me, but what I did find was amazing. Try this and see:(Apologies to those who know this trick already. Its probably in the manual somewhere, maybe I overlooked it).Novel views in MSTS
Useful for novel screenshot angles as well)First of all, select a view key (2 , 3 or 8).
Zoom in a bit and position yourself behind a moving train.
Now press Ctrl Shift and 9, all at the same time.
Now move your left (or right) arrow key as far as it will go. You are now travelling parallel to the train, but way out on your own and far from the track. Experiment with different arrow keys for different effects. Use the combination of arrow keys plus Ctrl or Shift keys, as per normal, to rotate camera views high and low, etc.To return to 'normal' viewing mode, just press Ctrl, Shift and 9 again.TipsHow you line up your initial view shot (ie, front, side, top-down, etc) using keys 2, 3, or 8, determines how you will follow the train after you press Ctrl Alt and 9. If you get disoriented at any time, and cant get the view you want. Simply press Ctrl, Shift and 9 to get back to normal mode. Or else press keys 2, 3 or 8 to come back to normal views. To start with, its best to select a countryside route with plenty of space and few buildings, i.e. Settle to Carlisle, etc.Have fun Tin--- Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>bob ----Hi Bob,Yeah, "wild" was the word that came to my mind also. This is the best flightsim I've ever flown!! When your perched on top of that train doing over a 100pmh through a busy city, and your able to pan around and focus on specific things as they whiz by, such as a passing train or a window in a high rise. Wow!I've also found its brought my sound system to life. ie. as I pan around, sounds are heard differently from slightly different angles.Tip.As I mentioned earlier, if you locked into a view you dont like or cant control, just hit Ctrl, Alt 9, resposition the view, then hit Ctrl Alt 9 again.Special thanks to Chuckzeiler and Mechanik for getting this ball rolling!

Aug-13-01, 12:04 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Please read!! (New views - latest update)" Useful tipTo ensure a smoother action as you pan the mouse around, go into Control Panel/Mouse, and set the 'mouse pointer speed' to zero, apply, then exit.Tin Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
