Please post bug reports here. Also, please leave the flames out of this thread....The following bugs have been reported so far:Problem:
BR roads "shape failed to load error"Solution:
Copy all the brick road (br etc...) to the GLOBAL/SHAPES folder in your Train Simulator directory.
Problem:
A1USBuffer.s "shape failed to load error"Solution:
Copy A1USBuffer.s shape from any default route into GLOBAL/SHAPES. The buffer I am using is NOT the default buffer and is available on the trainsim.com downloads area. I'll dig up the exact file name and post it here later.Problem:
ReadMe file is missing.Solution:
None at this time. It was accidentally left out of this build. I will post the file separately and include it in the next build.Problem:
Paths through Argentine Yard through tracks (the STRAIGHT route).Solution:
None at present there is a misaligned piece of track that I missed. Run down Main #1 or #2 which terminate just west of Morris. Paths included in the route either use the fast tracks (double track, north side of yard area) or terminate on Main-1 or -2 prior to Morris.Problem:
Incorrect pathing in unzip process.Solution:
Create a folder under TrainSimulator/Routes named ATSFMAR. Unzip files into this folder. I have switched over to using WinZip for this build and expected some pathing problems....Will RTFM a little closer for the next build. Apologies all around on this one!Problem:
Installation "autoexec.bat" file missing.Solution:
It's there. Look for INSTALL.BAT and run this file after you have unzipped the entire route into the ATSFMAR folder.I will continue to update this thread as I receive bug reports. I would prefer bug reports off forum but don't HAVE to have them that way.... Just gives me time to research and provide a solution that we can share with everyone.JBD

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

While exploring the route, the following path end points reference will be useful. I will be adding additional paths as time permits. An "add-on" pack will be posted in the files area in the next few days with some activities and path/service add-ons....Please, to all who are exploring this route: Feel free to develop and upload activities designed to test the route. This is a public beta test of the route and all of the extra eyeballs looking things over are a big help when it comes to adjusting/editing down the road! Thanks to all who are helping in this process! (even if you never file a bug report)Path Points References:Argentine Yard (Santa Fe Yard, end of track west of AY Tower)Armstrong Yard (eventual UP KC Kansas yard, currently EOT of UP High Line)Avondale Yard (North Kansas City, NW yard)Block 224 (BN Main, current end of track west side of Avondale Elev.)Brunswick, Mo. (last town before east end of track, NW)Bucklin, Mo. (current end of track, ATSF)DeSoto, KS (end of track, ATSF west of Holliday, Topeka line)Eton Jct., Mo. (end of track, UP, SE of Eton Jct., single track)Marceline, Mo. (yard, last town before east end of track, ATSF)Palmer Creek, Mo. (east end of track NW line)West Holliday, KS (end of track, ATSF main line, double track)I think that covers all of the current path points. JBD

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

I posted this in another thread and will post it here for anyone who wants to know:Ok, this is how things will go with my side of things. I plan on having Armstrong/Armourdale yards in my second Midwest Rail Group route, UPs Kansas Sub. As for the ATSF side of things, which will be my first route, I will be continuing west from where Jim left off. The first release will begin in Kansas City (thus anything east of there will NOT be included in my route releases) and extend the ATSF Topeka and Emporia Subs to my hometown Emporia, KS.
With the track alignment and other problems west of Argentine, mainly around Morris, I will refine everything from MP 7.1 (Turner) west. I will leave Jim to deal with the problems east of there if that will be ok with him. Argentine Yard will be included in both the Marceline and Emporia Sub routes.I want this to be known now as I just start this route. I will NOT include any of the objects that were in question earlier. I plan to include a whole lot of custom objects created by me and others freely available in the file library. If anybody has any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns, please email me and let me know!Austin

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

I've repaired the bumpy tracks west of AY Tower and adjusted levelness (is that a word?) on signals from AY west to end of track.I will be uploading a patch update later tonight. It will include world, tile, and database files that were updated tonight and involves only 8-10 tiles. This update is only for those wishing to fool around west of Santa Fe Junction (Kansas City) to West Holliday/DeSoto, Ks. (there really isn't anything there at this point)I have also added a new path for short runs starting at Holliday on the Topeka Sub. heading east and ending at Santa Fe Junction.Since I've never done a "patch" upgrade I must STRONGLY ADVISE anyone installing this patch to back up the route first! Note that if this patch works out, I'll do some additional patches over the next few days (some of which will include additional trackage!)JBD

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

Jim,
I installed the beta version of Marceline and did encounter the bugs you listed. In addition, I encountered some "floating" roads near Morris on the N&W...interesting (I know, this is a test version}. I did download the patch but it promptly crashed MSTS during starting up the game. Ah, Kuju bugs...aren't they fun. Contact Brad Brown at 3D Train Stuff for permission to use his billboard for "Damitol", I'm sure you probably need abottle of it by now. You've a great job so far on this route but I would suggest using self installers in the final version. Thanks,
Al Evans

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

If you installed the patch correctly, you should have no problems with the route. There are still many floating roads on the route that Jim will get to after he gets the KCT area done I believe. As for the Damitol billboard from the 3DTS Cajon and TPII routes, that should be available for international use to route designers everywhere!BTW, I am currently working on a few custom objects for the route, namely the Carrollton and Henrietta stations.Austin

Interim Patch (Build 0.6b) uploaded

I have uploaded an interim build which addresses track and other issues reported through midnight 10/02/03. This interim build is OPTIONAL but includes the following:* Extension of track into Kansas City, Kansas, from lower level of KCT Double-Deck Kansas River bridge. Extension runs southwest to KCT Armourdale Yard (under construction) and north-by-northwest to the connection with the east end of the Rock Island Yard.* Using my newly-acquired learning of the "N" key, signals and objects west of Santa Fe Jct. have been leveled.* Tree groups along ATSF line to AY have been removed in preparation for using forest regions to populate the bluffs and reduce the tile object count. This will be a significant change in the next release eliminating a LOT of overhead object count across Missouri.* Two new paths: DeSoto, Ks. to ATSF Junction and KCT Armourdale to Argentine Yard (you have to wye your train at Adams St. and back across the river!)* Two new consists to use for transfer-type runs and testing. Both require non-default locomotives and cars...END-USERS ARE ADVISED IN THE STRONGEST POSSIBLE MANNER TO FULLY BACK UP THE ATSFMAR FOLDER BEFORE INSTALLING THIS PATCH!Installation instructions may be found in the INSTALL.TXT file included in the patch. Please continue bug reports! Screenshots are especially appreciated showing problems...JBD

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

The A1USBuffer is a different buffer. When RouteRiter processed the route it picked that file up as being a default shape (since it's in the global folder). There is a new set of buffers and other track details available in the download library. The filename escapes me right now....You can TRY to copy the buffer .s, .sd, and (if there is one) .thm from your global folder to the route shapes folder. Don't forget to do the same thing for the texture file (global copy to route/texture).JBD

JBD,I just installed the latest update (06d) to the ATSF Marceline route. After I ran it through RouteRiter "check route" several times, and copied the missing files that RouteRiter and I could find in default and add-on routes, here's the report that it produced:"Shape file icmonss.s is missing from your route, no alternative is available in the default routes.

Does it appear to you that these messages are valid and accurate? I realize that several of the messages are duplicates, but that's what RouteRiter came up with. The error report was much larger before I copied the files that I was able to find in add-on routes. If your route does actually use the files listed in the error report can you give us an idea where to obtain these files? I realize that these files are probably used in various add-on routes (besides the ones that I have installed), but, I'm sure that you would agree, it would be practically impossible to download and install every add-on route in order to try to find the files for your route. Thanks for any help that you can give us.CB

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

I've partially answered my own question.usflagpole.s is in clutter2.zip
SRV_PeaveyElevator.s is in srv_gpc1.zip
SRV_CSXbridgeControlTower.s is in srvbldg1.zip
UQSmphrtex.ace is in uqsfmr10.zipIn addition to copying the s files into the route, I also copied directly related sd and ace files.I'm still stuck on icmonss.s, 0BridgeA2L150.s and Sighouse1a.s.Bert Lattan

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

Well, I THOUGHT I had all of the necessary files in the shapes patch.... More to do tonight...Information for those choosing to download the Upper Quadrant Semaphore package: Do NOT install the Signal.dat or SIGCFG.dat files! This will completely blow away all other signals. The ATSF Marceline signal setup files are a special breed! #2: The blades on GM&O and ATSF semaphores were all red. If you install the UQSem without intervention the blades will be yellow! To make red blades, delete the UQSemaphore.tex file and rename UQSemaphore_R.tex to the original file name! Rather than have to upload Ron Picardi's and Hank Sundermeyer's signal files again, it would be easier for you to simply download and install these as separate downloads!JBD

New bug found....fix offered....

In writing and testing a new activity featuring the new Alco 626's, I discovered a previously-unknown bug....Night textures for the river barges and tugboats do not exist! As you come anywhere near the Sibley Bridge on ATSF, or any of the near-encounters with the Missouri River on the NW side you will encounter a missing shape file error IF RUNNING AT NIGHT!The error lists the following files as not found:BargeRail.ace
BargeGrain216.ace
BargeTex.ace
Catwalk.ace
Tidewater1.ace
Tidewater2.aceThe FIX IS:The six files listed above will be found in the TEXTURES folder. Simply COPY the six files into the NIGHT subdirectory of TEXTURES!I have just finished addressing all of the little varmints that I've kept on a list here this evening and am working on getting rid of the rest of the "flying roads" in favor of actual road placement now. This process should be completed sometime tomorrow at which time I will go to work on extending eastward. Once I get to Ft. Madison and get the yardwork in KC finished the route will be released as Build 0.7.I am also in the process of making a compilation of GM&O equipment which will be posted in the files section early next week. None of Paul Fowler's GM&O equipment will be included in this compilation. The equipment included will be things which were released as freeware by other authors only.I also encourage you to consider downloading the GM&O F-3 as well as the Super Chief set from 3DTrains.com. GM&O F's run well, just have the wrong horn but that's easily fixable!Would anyone be willing to re-skin some S-2's and SW-7's for Kansas City Terminal Ry.???? 9 #'s in each unit (50-59 and 70-79, respectively)...JBDJBD

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

I'm with Kevin on this one - I deleted the route and will wait until all the bugs are worked out. The interesting thing is that on the original install Route Riter just needed to copy over a few files from the default route and all was fine. Applied the patches and missing all kinds of .s and .sd files. One other request of the route developers out there. If you are going to include activities in your route that require non-default equipment, please include a list of the file names that need to be downloaded and where they are located.Ken

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

I'll try to help as best as I can.... Questions:1) Are you running version 1.2 of M$TS?2)Did you download the FULL route and install it first?3)Did you run the INSTALL.BAT after unzipping? This copies a LOT of files from the six default routes into ATSFMAR...4)Have you applied the two patches to the route? (I suspect that THIS is what is crashing you as there have been a lot of additions since build 0.6 was released....)5) Did you try completely erasing the route and try to re-start M$TS without the route present?6) Do you have X-Tracks 3.7 and the latest Global Tsection.dat installed? This is a REQUIREMENT (probably the #1 reason for the software crashing...... using default global tsection.dat with routes that call for the updated global files)This is the first "fatality" I've heard of with the route so I'd really like to get a detailed 'step-by-step' of how you installed the route...Answer the questions as best as you can and that should help us diagnose what went wrong. DON'T reinstall (yet!)....Sorry that this has given you a problem!JBD

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

Thanks Jim for your reply. I have backed up my entire Train Sim folder to my other hard drive, and uninstalled the original. I then reinstalled the basic Sim again on the original hard drive. I then gradually copied the files back from the back up version. It is now back to normal, less Marceline.
I can answer Yes to most of your questions, but find I do not have X-Tracks V3.7...only the first. I do not have Global Tsection.dat, so you were right. I must confess that I am an amatuer,as I do not know where to find the Global file. I'd appreciate some advice on this. I was at a bit of a loss on this...........but then again, I do live at the bottom of the world, here in OZ.
Cheers mate,
Ray

RE: ATSF Marceline Bug Reports ONLY!

Well, I was pretty sure that the lack of X-Tracks and global track file was your problem....Both are included in version 3.7 of X-Tracks. Just download it from here on trainsim.com and you'll be good to go!Sorry you had a problem! JBD
