The final edition of Central Valley will be released this weekend after working out tsection data. The route has been refurbished wholly and now takes on a more realistic scene. Rails to Trails was my final sub.......the last version of Central Valley is extremely outdated although listed on www.msts.nl.....I do apologize for a poor job in constructing this route, it has just been difficult because of trial and error of re...thanks to ulco, pieter, mrmike, ries, eric and karl, tony, david, okrasa, bill, vince, longhairedwizard, and many others who have helped me with with this route and many more thanks to object builders.... this is freeware so be my guest.. glimpse of last sub.....I tried to keep it so everybody gets good fpsCentral Valley Final Edition;Rails toTrails Sub/Pics – image 1

LAST EDITED ON Sep-17-03 AT 10:59 AM (EDT)

Question, will you replace Rick Lamps invisible section with the one I supplied in XTracks v3.7?
(you will actually need three of mine to replace one of his as mine is only 20m)
If you do you will get rid of the special tsection.dat and the route will be compatible with the standardized tsection.dat.Okay, did just see your question in the other thread and then I had already posted this message. What you will need to do is the following.
* first with your special tsection.dat in the global folder open up the route in RE and remove all of Ricks special invisible track sections then save the route and exit RE
* change tsection.dat to the one supplied with XTracks v3.7 (build 20 that is)
* open route in RE again and add three I1t20mStrt sections everywhere you previously had one of Ricks sections. I made it shorter to be more generally usable but that should not cause you any problem.
* finally you will probably need to restore the bridges, I think they might be deleted by RE when the track is deleted.
* save route and exit RE, start MSTS and try it outI would strongly advice you make a backup of the route before starting on this. If you have the backup and some knowledge of editing world-files (.w) you do not need to tweek the position of the bridges 100% when restoring them but you can copy the location data from the old-files after the final save above. If you need help or clarification just yell.

RE: Central Valley Final Edition;Rails toTrails Sub/Pic

thanks for your quick response, I will just change the 60 meter pieces to 20 meters, therefore , all should work. However, I do have a question, why is it that some freeware objects must be listed in the global directory, because if not present, it will say "xyz" not in global folder although it is in your shapes and textures folder, I hate having a large global folder but have no choice?any incite is greatly appreciated

No scenery objects should need to be placed in your global folder.
Neither should you need any textures globally.
If they do I think there is something wrong.
Adding a lot of stuff to your global folder is not a healthy sign.Track and road section shapes need to be placed in the global folder but that is adifferent matter and you should not include those in your route distribution.

RE: Central Valley Final Edition;Rails toTrails Sub/Pic

Okrasa, ran into a problemI deleted the 60 meter sections and used the 20 meter invisible, worked perfectly as far as lining up without blue poles, but then, after riding a train on it and then the train skipped the sections, didn't derail however, but it appeared to fast forward. So I experimented by adding the 60 meter to tsection data. it worked perfectly without error. it was just a matter of adding it in tsection and adding shape file. What do you think about it? I can't understand why the train was skipping through the 20 meter invisible section. can you? anyway, good job with the xtracks. this route is tiring me out

Q: how did you make the replacement? By editing the w-files or by RE?
Should not do it by editing w-files cause you will need three 20 meters to replace one 60 meter and then you need to have the tdb updated.
Doing it manually in the files will need a tdb-rebuild and I think you would like to avoid that if possible. Doing it in RE the tdb will be updated by RE without need for tdb-rebuild.
Experimenting with the tsection.dat you would run into the same problem as before.

RE: Central Valley Final Edition;Rails toTrails Sub/Pic

I edited the re. I don't know what caused it to fast forward in view so quickly......I never editied the world files, that is too dangerous for me... so that is questionable
